This is Dad. Just a few clarifications. I was 18 when I acquired this camera in 1974. I was working at a 2nd hand store in Deerfield Beech, FL when this camera came in. It had a leather covering on it that completely covered the camera, not just the metal parts, but it was badly deteriorated and I peeled it off; I tried to cover it with vinyl but that didn't look so hot so I peeled that off too, the contact cement is what gives it the brown color. It is constructed with an aluminum body and mahogany end plates. It took 122 film which when I wrote Kodak about, they had discontinued making 2 years earlier in 1972. It took a 4x6 negative. The knobs you see at each corner are for loading the film and the one with the d ring is used to advance the film. @3:20 he mentions frame speeds but he meant shutter speed. @4:20 the little scale is for focus distance. The only real defect on the camera though is a scratch on the inside lens.

@medranofamilytx they're welding gloves, I was mainly only wearing them for the video, keep the oils from my hands off the certain parts on the camera.

That's wonderful that you not only have a great old camera, but also the sentimental connections with your father. I collect old cameras and I have to wonder, however, if you're really looking at the date it was manufactured or the date of the patent? They got very specific with the dates. Ironically, the modern camera couldn't focus clearly on it! A lot of folks confuse the patent date for the year a camera was made. Regardless, it's a very nice camera and thanks for sharing it!

I just bought model 1-A for $60 at an antique store. It is considered an antique since its over 50 years old. I came to find out how to open it!

Actually, my Canon EOS 7D has a true bulb setting, however, this camera has the piece that the bulb setting was named after... the actual bulb itself.

I heard there is some sort of film you can get for it but you have to make it adapt somehow. This one needs a new rear element, its got a deep gouge in the glass.

This definitely looks like a Kodak 3A Brownie. The red bellows and the size - smaller than the original 3A - indicate that. Yes, the 122 film was discontinued. 120 film will work, but the spool is shorter. But, we live in an age of marvels! You can buy 3D-printed adapters which extend the length of the spool so it can be loaded into a 122 format camera.

Even 100 year old negatives had better "resolution" than most digital cameras today.

@DrGonzo1911 sure, just not with this camera. That would be cool if we got some film for it, but it would require adjustments to this old camera to make it use the film that's available.

what the model of the camera?
@KH990j13 жыл бұрын
@MegaBojan1993 It all depends if you bought quality stuff. If you bought good negatives with a good camera and a nice lens, then yes. Otherwise most consumer cameras from long ago would have their own picture imperfections just like the consumer cameras of today. To say that one can outperform a more professional digital camera, no, my Canon EOS 7D is very impressive but it's equally so with many older photos I have seen both B&W and color.
