A friend of mine showed me a box of glass slides today and I said that I will try and copy them. I simply put a white screen up on my laptop and laid the slide flat against the screen and took a picture of it. I simply reversed the neg in my photo software and was well pleased with the result.

Awesome. I’ve just acquired 60+ glass magic lantern slides I’m looking to digitise and print too. Great work.

I really enjoyed your video David. I recognised one of the places. The one of the street with the man on the bicycle. It looks just like Park Road, Chorley, St Laurence Church. I love the photo of the nurse too. Well done on your restoration. What a brilliant find.

Thank you Alison, yes the Nurse is one of my favourites also. I will look into the locations more.

Just love these! My parents have some glass slides - I’m hoping to figure out a set up, but I’m not sure I can do it with my current equipment. Thanks for the video!

I found eight glass plates..some look like they are in Egypt or Morocco. They look very old. I'm trying to find out about them. Some are in color and some are black and white. I live in Virginia and I found them in California

Fascinating watching the video. I know you did some editing but amazing to see how much detail even from all those years ago. Great work well done.

Thank you Richard, the detail in some of the images is incredible. I am looking to print more and hopefully a public display. Thanks for watching

Enjoyed watching your method of capturing the slide images. I have a similar setup... I use a copy-stand and a small lightbox which is daylight balanced. My settings are ISO 200, aperture priority and F8-11 with a 12mm extension Tube. My camera is connected to an external screen for focusing since the camera is too high for me to see in the viewfinder. The camera is 24mp so resolition is very high. Generally, I adjust contrast in the scanned image as I like. So far all I've done is share the images on FB. Thanks again for sharing.

That sounds like a great setup, its so enjoyable bringing old negatives/slides back to life. Thanks for commenting & watching

There is a building in Nashville Tennessee, on Charlotte Ave, that had dozens of glass plate negatives mounted in the windows, just being used as window panes. I saw them as my dad drove by. He knew they were there and was surprised I spotted them because they were pretty faded by that time. No idea what they were or where they came from.

I've been going through my dad's slides from 1955-1956 when he was stationed in Germany and he traveled through parts of Germany, the French Riviera, Rome and Venice. The pictures are simply amazing. I feel like I found a treasure chest of history. I wonder if anyone would want to see these? I think every American army man had a camera, so there are probably lots of pics like the ones my dad has. Do you know of any one or place that might be interested in looking at these? Thanks!

I have about two hundred glass slides of all subjects, Poncho Villa, World War I, etc. Do you know where I may be able to sell them? Thanks. Some are in color.

Hi Ray, that sounds very specialised market. I would possibly contact a museum to see what their thoughts are other than that (i hate to say it) ebay? Thanks for watching

I tethered via lightroom (File/Tethered Capture/start Tethered capture) tether cable from tether tools. Hope this helps and what a mammoth task. Have fun. D

I did look on ebay and i found that they are not really worth much as an item the value is really in what is on them (the historical value etc) Thanks for watching

Hello, how are you? I would like to know how you do so that the image taken is uploaded directly to the ligthroom. Thank you very much. sorry my english is a bit weak.
@DavidStanbury4 жыл бұрын
Hello, in Lightroom you can select to upload via tethering (connecting camera to the computer via tether cable) then in lightroom you can auto add a preset to that image. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
