Cerridwen Kaiding yeah ok ..... but why people bring races into everything?
@anastasia-fr1gn7 жыл бұрын
Cerridwen Kaiding That is somewhat true but also...not? Lol. Hear me out. Much of these are mainstream American styles. Women from the 20s to the 50s (and even after) mostly all followed the same trends, regardless of ethnicity. For instance, black women in the 40s still did pin curls and victory rolls and waves. In the 50s, Asian American women still had soft waves and covered their hair with bandanas like white American women. I understand it's important to show the different trends that started to grow from different ethnic groups, but for wedding hairstyles I think this video did a good job of showing the main styles.

You can be natural and elegant at the same time. I mean nothing wrong with her hair on a day to day, but its a wedding... Where's the veil? Where's the anything... There was nothing formal about that look besides the earrings. That's where the style went wrong. But to each is own.
@engelstraene37 жыл бұрын
Hannah Louise Jeez... Weddings as we know them nowadays are nothing but another way capitalism tries to make us spend a lot of money on useless stuff. Originally, women wore neither veils nor white dresses except from very high-class brides. So let people have fun on a day where love should be celebrated instead of forcing them to apply to fake traditions.

TheVioletdecember since this is a video on hair and not body, does that really matter?
@gbologna24667 жыл бұрын
TheVioletdecember I think that these videos usually shown what is viewed as a beauty standard for that decade, like in the 1970s when black women were finally able to wear their hair naturally and not be viewed as socially unacceptable. Anyway, I don't think beauty media, like magazines, or KZbin channels should try to normalize being fat, it is like trying to normalize smoking. But I agree that it would be nice to show women that maybe aren't model thin, but still at a healthy weight.

I would watch videos about how each clothing item and accessories changed across CENTURIES, across ALL the different COUNTRIES and how they changed among the different SOCIAL CLASSES! Even if they were 3 hours videos for each type. (Maybe in an animated version or with pictures because it would be such a big work for hairdressers/tailors otherwise) 'Cause it's history. Fashion history.

Not everyone in the 60's was a hippy and not everyone in the 70's had big poofy hair. Also my mother's hair did not look that wild in the early 1980's. This is all wrong. That's like saying everyone in the 2010's is a hipster or was an emo in the 2000's.
@sublimelemon54447 жыл бұрын
Ryan Churilo yeah but this isn't about every conceivable style, this is about the memorable styles of each decade (I mean I'm sure your mother's hair was lovely, but what is 80s hair remembered for being? Styled with mousse and having tons of volume!)

That “poofy” hair in the 70s is called an Afro Ryan and y’all uncolored people can pretty much infer how y’all wore your hair
@kierieburton67796 жыл бұрын
Yh they're just focussing on subcultures. There's plenty of black women that didn't actually have an afro in the 70s. Just like throughout the decades some people with straight hair have gotten curly perms and wore their hair big. A lot of women in the 90s wore their hair short. And the Queen has been rocking that same hairstyle from the 1930s since forever. Because in reality people style their hair the way they want to. Not everyone follows fashion. Like, I have never been into straight hair... not on myself. I've got naturally curly hair and I've always wore it that way despite fashion dictating this pin straight look for everyone.

20s veils were actually fitted around the top half of bride's head and fell down over her shoulders. If you look at the wedding photo of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, she wore a drop waist dress and her veil was held to her head with a circlet. They married in 1923.
