100 Years Of Cinema 1923-2023 : Can You Name ALL Of These Movies?

I have picked 1 movie from every year from 1923 to 2023 for this quiz - all you have to do is name the movie from the short description. This is REALLY HARD to start but it gets easier as time goes on. I'd love to know how you get on!
And so I don't get roasted over coals for my choices, this is how I came up with the list : I took the ratings from IMDB (including the user votes), the MetaScore from Metacritic and the overall ratings from Rotten Tomatoes to get a final verdict on which movie should be featured from each year. And because of that scoring system, there are going to be some CONTROVERSIAL picks here...

Outstanding. That must have taken forever to put together, all the descriptions, the cast and the movie posters, amazing. I did pretty well from mid-fifties onwards but there some pretty obscure ones all the way through that were a real test - I'll admit to pausing a couple of times in order to dig out the answer! I got some of these before the clue even shows up. 1941, 1942, 1949, 1950, the most well-known films from these years by a long shot. Gotta say though, you threw me with 1980, I was really expecting Raging Bull instead of a second Star Wars, and Chinatown instead of The Godfather twice. Good fun though, would definitely love to play a version with some deeper cuts (really not trying to sound snooty I just don’t know how through comments on YT)

If you read the plot description carefully, sometimes the film title is right there. Also seeing the names of the main actors is very helpful. I got about 85, had difficulties with the newer ones, because l haven't been to a movie theater since 2004. I live in a semi rural area and must drive to the next town to a multiplex. Don't have movie channels included in my cable service either.

@@carolesquizzes What a clever way to see if your readers really pay attention! A few more titles that might be hard to guess came to my mind: "Night of the hunter" (not the remake), the original "Cape Fear", "The postman always rings twice" , "A place in the sun", any of James Dean's movies...🤔

Just an idea… Perhaps it would be better if you didn’t have several films from the same franchise? I mean 3 years of “Lord of the Rings” films?? Would be better if you included more variety. Just a thought 💭

It's a fair comment - but those movies did win basically the majority of the awards in the 3 different years they were released, so it felt wrong to leave any of them out... I did, however, make sure NOT to include any of the Hobbit movies, because they were all terrible 😂 Thanks for your comment & thanks for watching! ❤️

Excellent quiz! I was very solid mid 50's to early 2000's, OK on the early ones and pretty poor on the most recent ones, but i did know the garbage comic book ones even though i refuse to watch them.

I’ve heard of Casablanca it’s a wonderful life and singing in the rain but I’ve never seen it my dad has seen the good the bad and the ugly because he loves western movies I’ve also heard of butch cassidy and the Sundance kid god father1and2 Star Wars trilogy silence of the lambs sawshank redemption eternal sunshine of the spotless mind Hamilton and Oppenheimer but never seen it/3 right back to the future,the matrix,and wolf of Wall Street also haven’t seen them I’ve seen saving private Ryan it’s good 👍

I'll give credit where its due. This was an interesting video and I watched the entire thing, but I'm with the commentor who suggested more variety. I felt like the overuse of a movie series or a character series was a cop-out. There's too much good material out there to burn on all of the Charlie Chaplin or Marx Brothers or Star Wars or Batman or Lord of the Rings. This was a fun quiz until I started seeing how repetitive and on the nose it was becoming.

@@carolesquizzes Well, again, I want to first give credit where it is deserved. You put up content that was of good and pure intentions. It was intended to be fun for everyone, and I think that should be recognized overall. I'm just saying, as a random dude playing your quiz, the movie choices after about 1965 or so became very on the nose. The list was challenging prior to the '60's, but after that they were just too much of the obvious choice......except for that Cinema Paradiso, or whatever that was. Following the IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes guidlines made enough sense as a guage, but maybe just use the best movie from a series. Maybe just use Empire Strikes Back or The Dark Knight or Return of the King or just one Chaplin or Marx Brothers movie. I'm just saying, as the casual viewer/player, seeing movies in succession that coorelated so closely to their counterparts took a little edge off of the experience. Please take it as constructive criticism and not as roasting. You did good work here. KZbin is full of garbage. This experience was not part of the garbage.
