@ElCidPhysics90Ай бұрын
Right? I don’t understand at all why they got out of the remote business
@JilesMcCoyАй бұрын
It’s because they were losing huge amount of money on the support side of the house. It cost millions to support the remotes and that eliminated any profit from the sales. So the axe came out. I would have made the same decision. Logitech shouldn’t have bought them in the first place really. But I image they got a great deal.

Hello great friend .I'm wondering if this remote can be connected to a LED wall using a novasatar video processor ??
@JilesMcCoyАй бұрын
If the novastar has remote functionality this remote will be able to handle that. A request can be put in with AVA so they can add the codes. I'd love to get my hands on a LED wall with novastar controller and test for everyone!
@osholajones5084Ай бұрын
@JilesMcCoy The novasatar has a web based interface at most but no wireless interface unless a plug hardware is introduced into the ecosystem.Dies ava take these coding request seriously ??
@JilesMcCoyАй бұрын
@@osholajones5084 I put in a request for IR control for a TCL TV to be added and it was done next day. The device has to have a remote function already created though. The AVA can do IP control so if there is an API for that on the Novastar they should be able to create a driver for it. If the device doesn't have any remote control functionality then AVA wont be able to do anything. tell me about your wall? I am very interested in installing a LED wall in my theater and showing the world!
@tedscarlettАй бұрын
@@osholajones5084 Yes, we take them seriously! We deliver on several IR requests each week and our pro installers have access to vote on IP drivers to help us prioritize their developement. Bravia, Samsung, and LG TVs were some of the first things we delivered, in that order, based on votes. Roku and Kalleidescape, similar. Apple TV is coming shortly based on the push from our community.

@StephenAtt797Ай бұрын
OK Jiles, with your tech background you still stumbled into problems, for $1300 and dealer install, really not in the same class as any of my Harmony hub setups(3). I'm sure you saw Eddy's potion of DJ's 25hr show, so even though its dealer bought it can be unlocked. Looks neat, I still need number keys for my settop box. My concern is they still have work to do (programming etc) and I'm concerned about any of the Harmony wanna-bees having adequate support capabilities, maybe that was the big cost bleed to for Logitech (vs Mouse & keyboards), cause those folks were super helpful during their prime. Regards - Subscriber and cut from the same cloth (IT & Infosec, tinkerer and home sys admin + old guy).
@JilesMcCoyАй бұрын
Any of this kind of remote can be unlocked, but that CI will get black listed if the manufacturer finds out. They sign agreements to specifically not do that. The support cost is what got the Harmony line discontinued. The dealer model, where they are on the hook for support , is what makes this viable. (Maybe, anyway… more viable than Harmony.) This was literally my first try and I got wverything working great other than the Shield on the first go. I think that’s pretty darn cool. The Shield with a Harmony was even more of a nightmare. I am very impressed. That all said I still have 2 Harmony remotes!
