If it's not truly 24kt gold then it probably contains copper which would react with the vinegar in the buffalo sauce.

If it does contain copper. rather than the vinegar, I think it turned green-ish because of oxidation. Same thing happened to the statue of liberty, it turned green due to oxidation. In addition to that vinegar+salt can actually clean copper.

Idk because gold is so non reactive that it shouldn't have done anything My guess is that it wasn't actually pure gold and had copper in it, which may have turned green from the acidity of the sauce (And if that's the case it's a good thing they didn't eat too much)

protip - don't eat copper. It will give you green vomit/diarrhea and has led to shock/death various times. Link and Rhett didn't eat nearly enough for such a thing to occur though.

My best guess is that Josh got ripped off and there's copper or other metals mixed in that gold powder. Gold itself doesn't ever turn green.

As a jewelry maker I can tell you that was not real gold, base metals like brass turn green. He got ripped off thats all. Hope that helps.

Fun Fact: The wings themselves are not $1000. You can purchase 10 wings for $45, 20 wings for $90, or 50 wings for $1000. The only reason the 50 wing options costs $1000 is because it comes with a $300 bottle of champagne. So you're essentially paying a $800 for that bottle of champagne and ~$200 for the wings.
