There is no agreement on nuclear winter. For starters, most blasts will be air bursts, not ground bursts. Maximum damage, way less radioactive materials. It depends what kind of nukes get used as well. Makes all this conjecture, and fear porn.
@robbob37175 ай бұрын
I mean some countries may rather go scorched earth and just ground burst rather than air. We really dont know until it happens. Most countries wont tell you the real plan.
@OutlawCaliber135 ай бұрын
@@robbob3717 Ground burst has little use except against hardened facilities. Think bunkers, and silos. We do have those, so there will be areas that are primarily ground bursts. Air bursts are where the damage really is though. Air bursts brings the most devastation, allowing the warhead to do what it was made to do--destroy a lot of space in a short amount of time. This is just basic nuclear knowledge, though not wide knowledge. Even Nagasaki, and Hiroshima were air bursts for maximum damage. They're flourishing cities, today. The idea of nuclear winter was also pushed by Russian spies, and propagandists. There's a lot to it, but it's not a set-in-stone theory. We'll likely get some cooling, we'll definitely get lots of fallout, but the ideas being pushed are the worst of the worst. Even the father of nuclear winter in America admitted there's not enough nuclear devices on the earth to cause what's being depicted. Scare tactics. We live in an open society that ideas can be injected into by our enemies. Question everything, bub. EVERYTHING.
@robbob37175 ай бұрын
@@OutlawCaliber13 You said some pretty well known and obvious things as if they were government secrets. I think most people understand ground burst vs air burst(the name itself gives away what the difference is). What you dont seem to understand is that one leaves an area irradiated for a longer time vs the other doing more damage but clearing much quicker since it pushes the waste up and out. Effectively making an area unusable and harder to assist in the event of said nuclear event. This can become even worse if they do a cobolt mix like Russia did during the cold war, areas tested in are still heavily irradiated today. Targeting water sources with said weapons would also yield a much higher return than just destroying a bunch of city blocks. If you think that militaries havent war gamed how best to cripple other nations, then you are naive champ.

On day one most people would be dead or dying. 1000 days later, all but handful of people would still be alive. It's back to the early Middle Ages at the very best, but Neolithic is more probable. Who is going to build hydroponic growing facilities and how would they be fed so that they could buld them? Everything would be contaminated for a very long time. The Chernobyl exclusion zone may be safe in about the next 20K years.
@stevefarris94337 ай бұрын
Actually I saw a documentary on the Chernobyl melt down. The animals were thriving because no people were there to kill them. One person kept going back. Don't remember what happened to him. The wolves, deer and other smaller animals were growing in numbers. Don't know about the mutations that were happening. I don't think that melt down was any where near the disaster that a total nuclear war would cause. Agree with you on the hydroponics.

@drscopeify6 ай бұрын
You can't have nuclear winter becasue Russia only has 300 ICBMs in the first place, the rest of the Russian nukes are free-fall and have to be dropped by a large bomber aircraft right on top of the target and since NATO has 3,000 modern fighter jets that is highly unlikely to be possible. Of the ICBMs an unknown number are in various stages of disrepair, the main facility to renew them in Russia had a major fire just a few years ago too. So who knows how many ICBM Russia has ready to go maybe 30? Maybe 60? could be 100? Also Russian nukes that are deployed would badly damage around 1 miles of city and another 1-3 miles in bad shape but it's not as big of an area of damage as people think and within just a few hours the area is mostly safe, no need to wait 1000 days, 2-4 hours and you are safe enough even without much protection, a mask is good to have to avoid breathing in contaminated dust. Is nuclear war the end of humanity? no not even close. The human body is amazingly able to deal with radiation, very few people died from Chernobyl around 30 something workers and only 1 person from Fukushima. Overall humans can handle a large dose of radiation and still live to a good old age. The reason the nukes in 1945 dropped on Japan had such a high death rate and damage was not the nukes themselves but that the cities in Japan were mostly built of wooden structures so the fires set by the nuke did the most damage it was all about the fires but in modern cities that is highly unlikely to be an issue. There will be fires but very limited to a few small pockets or fuel/gas facilities.
