Surviving the initial attack won't be the problem. Surviving the explosion just to get hit with the ensuing fallout and nuclear winter will be the worst part. Finding food, medicine, water, and shelter won't be easy. Not to mention protecting yourself from other survivors.

Hm and how do you come to this conclusion? The IND won't produce any significant fallout and the nuclear weapons of a peer opponent will wipe cities and their vecinity of the map. So unless you live far away from an area worth bombing, yeah the initial attack will be the problem.

recommendations: 1. get behind a structurally sound wall if you know the bomb is coming 2. close your eyes if possible (the light can blind you for 10 min, up to 35 even) 3. you probably have up to 10-20 min to gather your family and find a safe shelter after the initial drop 4. staying inside or in a covered area that is unlikely to fall or be affected by the heat is smart 5. a medium level nuke bomb's majorly affected areas are in a 2km radius around the drop point

I want to add a couple of things that this video doesn’t cover. The most likely scenario is an aerial burst not a ground burst. Being that this is much more likely it’s a shame the video didn’t cover aerial bursts and EMp. Secondly radiation is not as simple as waiting it out for two weeks. Some highly radioactive particles will still be deadly up to six weeks. Also remember that all outside water sources and air will be heavily contaminated for quite some time.
@skyspring77042 жыл бұрын

Tactical nukes would be more ground based for military targets but most cities for secondary strikes would be aerial due to damage being increased for a surface level destruction. I found it odd too that they don't acknowledge that or maybe providing actual truth would scare more people into being underground and surviving...

I was In Hawaii when this occurred, they never advised us to go inside or pull over. They literally just said “find shelter immediately”. My bf at the time, who was ironically a missile technician (we are both navy) told me it would take approximately 12 minutes to get to us if it was being shot from North Korea. The blast would blind us instantly and we would die 100%. We quickly found out Hawaii did not have any fallout shelters, or well the ones they did have were up in the mountains and driving to them would be pointless. We ended up going to the basement of our apartment building where many people had gathered. We were in uniform after just having gotten off duty. Everyone flooded us with questions and were in tears. We told everyone to call their families and say goodbye. Parents opened manholes in the streets and told their families to crawl in. We waited what felt forever in this basement knowing no one would survive. We finally went back into our apartment after I believe 30-45 minutes of nothing happening. We realized it was obviously a false alarm before they finally officially told everyone. Every single person thought they were going to die. The ships went into battle stations and all of us were being called into work. It was very traumatic to say the least.
