Enjoyable and well done Roger. I should have done this years ago but now my knees have advanced arthritis, however I hope to cycle the route instead , at 73 it's still doable. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey.

Further to my last answer Annie, when the time comes don’t be tempted to take the route that meets up with the Camino Frances. Take the one that goes to Ourense and then go the the monastery at Oseira and stay for the night. You won’t regret it you do, you will regret it if you don’t.

Thanks, sorry about the spelling. If you think that's bad you should read the blog. I wrote it and posted at the end of each day when all I really wanted to do was shower and sleep. Which is my excuse for the poor grammar and other mistakes. Still, I hope it gives visitors a flavour of the trek

Bonjour! J'ai beaucoup aimé votre courte vidéo. Très parlante. I really enjoyed your short video. You said in one of your answers that you walked during april-may. Could you give me the temperature range you had all along (lows and highs). I cannot stand heat and prefer walking in cool or cold weather. Merci d'avance. I would leave in early 2019.
@windswept83176 жыл бұрын
Annie OLLIVIER Hello, Annie, the temperature ranged between 25 up to Galicia where it dropped to around 18 degrees. I Found it quite pleasant but the weather is so changeable nowadays. I suspect if you don’t like too much heat you are going at the right time. You will also get the benefit of seeing spring arrive in Extramadura. Good luck. Roger

The minut 2:18 a very beautiful foto show the village "Al Real de la Jarra"...not Almaden de la Plata. .This is a bad misstake ..Almaden is some 20 k earlier..!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I am now determined to document our trip like this too, such a good memory. It has given me a good idea of what the Via de La Plata will be like. Reinforced the idea that this is the one we want to start with. A lot of blogs etc warn us against bed bugs: should we worry? And if you don't mind the questions: do we need to carry lunch or is it easy to find bars/shops/cafes or whatever on the way? Can't wait, we will go in April 2019....

Sorry Peter, only just seen your reply. I always carried lunch as I found mysekf in some pretty remote places come noon.

Hello Windswept, how many Days of Walking did you need? Greetings from Germany!
@lyndaharrison17227 жыл бұрын
Lovely video, Dick. Thanks for sharing your achievement with us. I'm considering doing Via de la Plata myself but doubt I'll do all 1,000 kilometres. If you were me, would you do the southern half (and bus the last 100 or so kilometres to Santiago de Compostela, or the northern half?
@windswept83177 жыл бұрын
Lynda Harrison Thank you Lynda if I only had a short time I would do the northern half. probably fly into Salamanca and start from there. It is a much harder walk but going through the wilds of North West Galicia to Ourense and Staying at the monastery in Oseira are things I won't forget. The lower half is flatter and easier walking, some say boring but it's still interesting and in spring the long tracks through verdant countryside is spectacular. That said, I walk solo and simply enjoy the open air. Why don't you consider doing it in two stages? If you have time read my blog which hopefully will give you a better idea if what to expect. Feel free to get in touch if you need any more info. Thanks for dropping in.

Hello Windswept, nice work! I´m a little bit worry About my Via de la Plate 2019. I will have only 33Days of Vacation! Including 2Days of traveling from Frankfurt to Sevilla and back from Santiago! So i may have to speed up a Little! :-)
@windswept83176 жыл бұрын
Dirk Pausch I did have one rest day. I am a fast walker but I was 68 years old when I walked the route. You might go faster if you take the Frances route when the track divides but you will be missing out on some excellent walking if you don’t take the alternative route to Oseira and Ourense. Also, if you opt for the Camino Frances route you will get trampled by the hordes coming from the east. Good luck.

Hello Windswept, thanks for your advice on the Route. I know the Camino Frances very well and i am not planning to go this Way. I like to go the Way over Ourense. I am 44yrs. and i have to do a little bit of Training as Prepp-Work! But i stay optimistic! :-)

Thank you Juan. My latest video is of the English Camino. I should have walked it with a friend but he died so I took his ashes with me and spread them en route. I hope you enjoy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4HFYqWDgtmanJY
