I've seen all your video's! You are a great motivator... and a wise man. Since, and even before the covid pandemic, I felt the need to disconnect myself from the social media, the daily news, and I did. In stead of watching tv, I went outside, I found myself in nature, meditation and hiking. I'm more at peace and within a year my husband and I are going to walk the camino portugues. To celebrate life . Thank you for your beautyfull video's, your advice and your wise lessons

We walked the Via de la Plata in August-October last year. 1007km. Takes a lot of mental fortitude to get up at 0500 every day and walk for 8 weeks. Some long near 40km stages too. We had temperatures in the early 40s in Extremadura which was hard work. Saw around 20 pilgrims the entire walk. As far removed from the French Way as you can get!

Somehow, I love Itálica, the tile mosaics of the ruins, and of course the amphitheatre. I imagined the brave gladiators facing a challenge each time the gate rose to release the roaring beast(s) into the ring. Santiponce, a mere village, seems nondescript next to the ancient Roman settlement. Great historic site overlooked by my Valencian neighbor on her trip to Sevilla. TY for featuring it on the Via de la Plata. 🇪🇸

I walked the last section of the Via de la Plata (from Ourense to Santiago) in September. The terrain was a little rougher and the heat still stronger than I had expected within Galicia. I was later told the Ourense region is the second warmest part of this route after Seville by a spanish Camino guide. The local people, while they spoke little if any English unless they worked in hotels, were very friendly and helpful. I knew intermediate written Spanish, but my listening skills were limited to spoken Spanish. I developed heat blisters on my left arm despite using factor 50 sun cream, although perhaps I should have applied it three times a day, not just twice. I can only imagine what the earlier stages of this Camino route are like. I'm glad that I experienced this part of the Camino, though I'm not sure I'll return to the Via de la Plata.

Chris, you have spent a lot of time trying to figure out if you are a 'walker' or a 'pilgrim'. As I think you are from Poland, I absolutely respect your view on this as a good Catholic, and a believer in God. Aged 74 now, I have all alone walked the Camino Portuguese (Litoral Route) in 2018, and last year the gruelling Camino del Norte. If someone asked me 'why did you do such a crazy thing'?, I have one simple answer 'because it's there, and because I can'. In other terms, as I am lucky enough with my health, why not try and accomplish such a marvellous individual achievement? if the health continues, this year I am walking the Rota Vincentina in May and later on in June the Ingles and Finisterre/Muxia circuit. Next year, I am going to try the Via de la Plata. Your great video has helped no end. I think the best time to start will be early May.

Chris, some stats for you after this amazing achievement. Total number of steps assuming , like most males, you average step is about .7 metres......1,000+ kilometres walked = 1,000,000 metres / .7 = 1.4 million steps! Factoring in smaller steps for uphill and downhill stretches, that's over 1.6 million steps! Total calories burned.......normal burn per kilometre is 85 calories, but in that heat, and carrying 10-12 kilos it must be well over 100 per klt. So 1,000 x 100 = 100,000 calories......you should have lost weight!.... a lot!
