Hi guys! As always, watching you folks do stuff is incredibly entertaining, and you put a lot of experience and effort into your work! I'd like to offer some criticism that I feel should be said: I applaud the written article for saying you went through the bikes making sure they are safe to ride at speed, and noting that it's lucky the CBR landed in the hands of an experienced rider. I felt that aspect was missing from the video though. It made me worry that someone would think it a good idea to get started riding - and start riding fast at that - with a bike that may have safety issues such as a bent frame, and *especially* making an effort to hide it at the track day. While the article recommends spending a little more to get a better bike, the video doesn't. You could have made the video more informative to new riders by recommending thorough check ups! In fact, here's my suggestion for any riders who are new to either riding in general or track riding: Never try to hide any faults in your bike, never try to hide your own experience! In fact, go for the exact opposite, and here's why: Most people at track days are incredibly friendly and helpful. If you go in as a new rider and pull someone's suit sleeve and say "Hey do you know anyone here who could take a look at my bike, I just got it and I'm here for the first time," I'm almost certain they will point you to someone who'd be happy to check out your ride and make sure it's safe. And you might make a new friend while you're at it!

the Ninja 650 could ve very very different than the SV650... better suspension for the Ninja, but better engine for the SV... that V-twin gives you a lot better feeling than the paralell twin of the nInja, hands down.
@AntaresSQ01
@AntaresSQ01 3 жыл бұрын
@@MotorDanko Engine in the SV is actually not much more powerful than the ninja, the ninja has better low down power which ultimately is not too good for track riding. I tracked my ER6F and it's absolutely serviceable as a track bike. no problem getting knees down and with minor brake upgrades (pads, discs, braided lines) performance is all there to be competitive even in higher groups. Also the versys in the video is some premium grade shit cos that 650 engine puts out 72 horses stock, 68 in the versys (different cams even more low power) and can easily get 80 to the rear wheel with some in engine work and tuning
@MotorDanko
@MotorDanko 3 жыл бұрын
@@AntaresSQ01 Is not about the end power, is about how each bike delivers the power, i found the V-twin much more enjoiable than the paralell 180º crank from the ninja or the er6f... both are nice bikes, but i found the 650 parallel kinda boring... if only it was 270º or similar could be much much more enjoiable, sound better, and feel better... at the end you don't track this bike to be the fastest.. so if any of them are faster than the other, doesn't matter to me... both are solid bikes tho.

The video was entertaining, and I really liked the concept. That being said, for new riders on a budget if you increase the budget by maybe a couple hundred bucks and spend a lot of time looking you can find much better bikes to use on the track or the road. It is kind of funny in Canada the bikes tend to cost more (even past inflation from American to Canadian) yet the bikes are better maintained. I think we just typically have more time to look after the bikes in the winter time.

Good luck buddy. ;) And remember - getting your license is merely the beginning of mastering the craft of riding. So take it easy, be smart about it and above all - practice! I just got a cb300r a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely love the bike. Its plenty fast for anything except being silly on the highway, there's plenty of power to make passes on the highway. And its incredibly confidence inspiring in the corners I'm almost 2k miles in on the bike and I can just tell it has so much more to give on the side of the tire.

So true ,you can definitely have fun on a cheaper bike on track, without the fear of dropping it. It totally frees up the mind. My first track bike was a 99' VFR 800 with 100 000 miles on it. Straight piped exhaust system, no lights, or mirrors, it was sounding like old school moto gp bike lol. All for 1000 dollars 😁 Everybody should do track days as it teaches you everything about riding. You can only benefit from it. All the racing they've done, no wonder Zack and Ari became such good riders.

I wouldn’t go that cheap/sketchy, but there’s defo something to be said about being the underdog at a track day. Taking my little cb500f through inspection yeah people would look & judge next to all the Ducati’s, and I’d get overtaken a lot, but there’s a truly great feeling overtaking bikes that have twice as much power or more as you!
