Nice hunt! I remember when the polymer £5 note came out and there were articles about AK47 notes. I think they are neat but for me I would not pay much over what they are worth for them.

Over a year too late but at 4:37 theres a DDMMYY date 171044, also at 7:00 there 181254 which is the birthday of both English race car driver John Booth and American actor, Ray Liotta. Also what did you end up doing with any notes you found with the american style date? are there any american collectors interested? I found a £10 note today with a serial number in the MMDDYY date format and I was wondering if I could find someone online who might like it or if it's a waste of time and I should just spend it haha

Yeah, I know very little, but recognise there are people out there who will pay significantly over face value for specific serial numbers (or errors,) but most commonly they will pay 3 or 4 times face value for very specific reasons...so it can be good even if you aren't a collector of notes...but generic birthday notes are usually less than that but still maybe above face value...they are more difficult to find than coins though...! 👍👍

Errors particularly (which is very unlikely,) but failing that, notable serial numbers...low numbers/high numbers -sequential numbers; binary numbers (or even a monodigits;) trinary numbers (although less collectable;) radar numbers and so on...there are a lot of possible combinations, but probably the one that more people collect than any other is birthdate notes, either of yourself or a family member or friend and even more collectable are birthdate notes of celebrities past or present. If those 'celebrities' are featured on the banknote in question, they are instantly more collectable with the date of birth on the banknote too...but there are so many possibilities...hope that helped? 🤓😀 Thanks for your comment, much appreciated 👍

Do you just go to the bank and ask for 1000 in £10 notes and they will withdraw it for you?

Generally you can ask for notes from your bank, but obviously you need the cash in your account and it must be within your limit - bank limits are not the same as cash machines if you withdraw the notes from your local branch, but some smaller branches may require at least 24 hours notice. However, all banks and individual branches may operate differently, so it's always advisable to ask! 👍 Thanks for your comment 👍
