I think the character gets A LOT better if you never press that dumb button that destroys your permanent defensive ring of flies for a tiny one-time burst of damage dealing flies. Oh, and also getting insanely good items helped a lot too I guess.

Yeah, i mean the flies turn to attack when hit by projectiles anyway, unless you were super sure you had more hearts waiting for you afterwards, sending a parte chunk for a quick damage burst seems dangerous. (Unless you did that to avoid getting contact damage by something running at you of course)

Yup, but it also didn't have the 'invisible' stat value (e.g. new_stat = max(current_stat, rock_bottom_stat)) that current Rock Bottom does.The name 'Rock Bottom' still kind of works with this version as the only way is up when you're at Rock Bottom, hence the effect of the item.

Yes and no. The game sets you to your highest achieved damage, but it still tracks your real stats. If you get a massive damage down like soy milk, and then use mega mush you won't get a crazy damage number because the mega mush isn't making your soy milk damage higher than your non soy milk damage. Now, if you take them in reverse order, mega mush THEN soy milk, you get crazy damage.
