Ahhhhhhhh! It's like Christmas day! Been waiting for this build series. As an American that loves older trucks, especially Chevys this makes me so happy. Those trucks are well built and won't let you down. Easy to work on. All I drive is older trucks. Y'all Enjoy the hell out of that truck! Cheers TJ & Mac 🍻

A coolant filter traps scale and corrosion buildup in the cooling system. Our larger farm tractors all had them. Over the road semi trucks often do as well.

Coolant filter is for slow release of SCAs in the coolant to maintain required levels. In particular blocks prone to cavitation require correct SCAs kept up. That's be my guess for the filter. The filters come preloaded with SCAs. Is a thing with trucks, pooley would know being a cummins dude..
@TJANDMAC Жыл бұрын
Ahhh true !
@OzzyFarmer75 Жыл бұрын
It is not so much a filter, it contains anti corrosion chemicals that are slowly leeched out into the coolant as it flows through. Standard fit on earthmoving and mining gear with larger engines than standard light vehicle engines.

Very cool old truck?? I have a few. I have seen a Cummins engine in this body style about 5 years ago. These trucks, now, are $20k for rusty junk. A worn-out 200k mile Cummins $5-10k. I have already watched most of the other build videos. Great job!!! I prefer to keep mine with the 454 that I put in it. These videos get me wanting to get mine running again. Thanks for sharing your build!! I'm from the central valley of California.

If the coolant sits in the engine long enough, it tends to react with the iron (or aluminum) inside the engine. The filter is to subtract those small corroded pieces so the rest of the engine will rust less rapidly. (It's basically a sort of anti-rust system.) The coolant filters are commonly used on bigger diesel engines such as cats for bulldozers, but also on some bigger car engines.

you should keep the np205 transfer case because it's far stronger than the landcruiser one which i have my doubts would last behind a 1000hp cummins that would have around 1700nm of torque.
@TJANDMAC Жыл бұрын
Yep all an experimental process at the moment , turns out the 79 transfer doesn’t work so will be going a different route next episode 😎
@6226superhurricane Жыл бұрын
@@macpreston that's why you use a 205 so you don't have to get one. you can also beef them up as well. the downside of the 205 is 1.96:1 low range but that won't be an issue with the low revving diesel and auto it'll still crawl. and these days you can get parts from usa just as quick as from melbourne or perth.

Mate metric threads are easy to know the drill size you don’t need a chart. just take the pitch off the shank size eg 12x1.75 thread needs a 10.35mm hole, 10x1.5 thread needs a 8.5mm hole, 8x1.25 thread needs a 6.75mm hole ect.

That trans isn't going to last behind a Cummins, even in stock form. If you're considering 1000 whp (you've got a long way to go still), you might want to check out what's behind 1000+ whp diesels; a built FMVB 48re. No need to waste time and money "experimenting" when people have already done that for the better part of 20 years and figured out what works best. A 1000 whp Cummins build is quite easy, if you know what you're doing, and there's several (Firepunk, Horsetorque Diesel, etc) who go into the details on how to get there.
