yo this content is fire bro, love how chill you are about it all. all this stuff is hella informative, thanks.

One of ya videos popped up on my feed and instantly clicked on it, I’ve watched all 3 so far and I’m not gonna lie, everything’s so informative, I work mostly on American cars and seeing somebody actually break down every single thing on a German motor is super interesting, continue to make videos on ya build

you can coat the piston and make them bigger. Did that on my m30 Turbo. I had 0,15mm piston clearance due to shrinked pistons from detonation.

have jeremy allen wet sleeve the block, he machines the entire center of the block out and the darton inserts are STOUT. its not too expensive either. best investment into my race car so far. regularly sees 45 psi. do yourself a favor, ditch the direct injection while u have the head off. that injector washed that cylinder dry of oil and spun that bearing. ive done it 3 times. maxxecu and e90 harness is way cheaper than replacing 6 index 12's . my car runs like a honda now for 20k miles on a g42 turbo. whole new world.

Thanks for advice bro. Yeah the fuel washing the cylinder dry of oil makes sense as to why it spun the bearing. If I do sleeves i might have to do closed deck again tho no?

This makes absolutely no sense. If fuel is getting into your sump you have a serious issue that will not be solved by "ditching" direct injection. Plenty of people run builds with DI and don't have fuel washing issues. Your rings were undersized or perhaps your cylinder was slightly ovaled--not the fault of the fueling system, even if you're practically dumping fuel into your cylinders.

ive yet to blow up a single port injection only n54. ever. have grenaded at LEAST half a dozen 800+whp built n54 engines with direct injection and mhd etc. maxxecu has real knock sensors, traction control, launch control, boost by gear, etc etc. its basically free, if you have to buy a set of new index 12's. youll save 200 dollars just going port only on maxxecu lol. any n54 thats making 500whp for very long will oval cylinders out and the direct injection system on n54 piezo injectors is dogshit, they stick open and flood like crazy. they are crazy expensive and they just arent great at high power levels thats why the new engines dont use the same style injector. we rebuild engines with spin bearing and at least 1 bad injector that matches the cylinder at least 30% of the time. lol we put these things together very often. @@slk1771

i should have uploaded a video of the block before assembly. you will see it, and be like OH yep, thats way better than just a css insert. waaaaaaaaaaaay better. i paid like 2200 and my block is wet sleeved and fire ringed. cant beat that with a stick he clearences it and does all the work and machines it all perfect ready to go. @@Chefn54

great vids, keep them coming. possibly the machine shop didn't properly clean out the cylinder walls after honing, they have to be scrubbed with detergent and water or solvent, else you can get some of the honing grit left in the cylinder walls which will wear out the bore after start up
@amanoorjohal803010 ай бұрын
The shaving from the injector bore probably caused part of that
@slk177110 ай бұрын
Never trust an in-situ kit, especially for something that sits literally right above the combustion chamber. Injector bore is at a MINIMUM head off job and incredibly easy to screw up. And at that point probably just better to get a new stripped down head rather than fuck around with bandaid fixes. A better, faster, and less error-prone solution if you really want to be lazy is using an oversized copper washer w/ an extra teflon seal until you can get a new head. Or injector sleeves. Just NEVER bore.
