Yes VK2ARI has a very high noise floor on 80m. I never get sick of the wonder of CW and the distances covered at such minuscule power!!! Great 👍 video.

Brings back memories. Mine was crude. 9V battery + 7805 with a key between the 7805 and the crystal oscillator module. It was on 80m. Was not until we finished I realised I had been using a 10m vertical instead of an 80m antenna. The person I wanted was 4km away and did not notice the wrong antenna until after.

Excellent video thank you very much it just shows you that if there would be an emergency and someone would need to transmit a signal this could potentially be used even though it is low power and still amazingly that you can do a thousand kilometers with 200 mL I heard cases where people can do a thousand kilometers with 10 mini Watts this are of course specific conditions and specific antennas however the fact of how simple the design is it is quite amazing I've seen you got quite a bit of videos on ham radio myself I'm using citizen band which is license free of course and VI solar conditions you can also achieve interesting distance however this band is a lot more noisier at this point I managed to modify a TRC 216 portable by adding a counterpoise to the walkie-talkie itself of about 5 m it has increased the range however I'm not doing a thousand kilometers I managed to do contact with three Watts a long time ago with a mobile from New Westminster to California New Westminster British Columbia in case of emergency this circuit is excellent it is very low cost and it will do the trick to send a signal if ever something were to come hopefully not otherwise I stick to the citizen band and as well the FRS frequencies the gmrs frequencies with just a small walkie-talkie from Canadian tire done some testing and British Columbia from UBC to a mountain that was 53 km away managed to make contact on 500 ml channel 10 of course signal was weak it still came in of course there was calculation of angle and a line of sight minor obstruction signal managed to come in ultimately that little crystal is quite impressive I heard of cases that you can get a crystal that works on the medium wave 900 khz at the same point the distance that could be achieved with this is very minimal as a testing equipment thank you for the video I am posting it into the group 11 meter band citizen band ultimately radio communication is becoming an asset as we go as we see things changing around the world that are going quite fast when it concerns the internet it still works now however as we have noticed things are changing everywhere and we're dealing with catastrophes that are happening all around just the fact of having a crystal a power supply and a low band filter will make it that f over there is a natural disaster happening it could be easily billed to send out a mayday hopefully this is not happen however the extra knowledge is becoming imperative now thank you do you have any videos that would help out for the citizen Ben I'm looking at trying to modify the equipment I have using an RCA jack for the output of the antenna I know that the efficiency of it is not the best however I would like to also increase the range so far out of this walkie-talkie managed to achieve a distance of about 87 miles that is on top of Mount SFU basically as a few mountain from SFU mountain to Victoria BC from Vancouver to Victoria managed to make a contact using a dipole while mainly accountable is hooked up to the walkie-talkie it's not the most efficient however I think if I were to hook up a balan 49 to 1 this may help the signal propagate I know I'm going off topic but I'm really inspired by the crystal video itself of how simple it is to get your signal out there maybe I'll try it on the 11 m BAND 73 thank you

With a few extra components, you could easily build a Pota rig.

You can also use a colpits oscillator instead of the crystal oscilator

Arent KiwiSDRs amazing! I use them all the time for remote monitoring. Good demo of 80m QRPp. I used to find 10..11pm is best propagation, but it's seasonal, better in winter.

Use CW mode RX and use a diode keying to keep oscillator on all the time the on off keying will have some chirp

unbelievable, without knowing output impedance, maybe only antenna and on 50 ohms at 3 mhz the power of a square wave oscillator for digital integrated, you managed to transmit so far, with 10nf of "XC" capacitance, I would be curious to verify with a swr meter, you must have an ultra performing antenna

👍Good going Peter. I wonder if a QRP CW transmitter is on the cards using the crystal oscillator module? I had a quick look on eB*y UK. While crystal oscillators modules are cheap and plentiful, none of them are for ham frequencies.

14.318 is common. Also a couple of 28 MHz frequencies. But not really good CW end frequencies.

Those crystal modules are rated for 5v operation.

Did a quick search for Hi-Q QXO and the spec sheet says +5V +/- 0.5V DC so he was lucky to get as far as 8 volts.

Wonder if you can saw the top off one of these and mess with (or even replace ??) the crystal unit to give you something on the QRP CW portion of 40 or 20? Hmmm..

is it just me or i thought 8v and 50ohm antenna means you were emitting +31dbm or 1200mW

Woow verys good, your transmitter long distance, i want make one transmitter crystal. Sou Brasileiro mas eu curto muito esta área da eletrênica, e achei interessante ver a distânicia de transmissão deste pequeno cristal ressonador e antena, treria como comparertilhar o Pin out do cristal?
