The role of the capacitor is to convert the single phase AC into 2 phases by creating a phase shift for the second winding. By messing up the capacitance you put the coil out of phase so that it works against the movement of the motor. Typically one coil is directly connected to the line and the other is in series with the capacitor. Think of it like a cheap phase converter. Usually with motors its not 180 degrees but instead 90 or 45 degrees phase shift and the coils are wired accordingly.

Hii friends i will tell u real fact of failure in this fan incident Generally capacitor is used for starting & run (capacitor start &run motor) please note 1phase motors are not self starting in order to start motor in fan or 1phase capacitor used .general value of capacitor in fan 2.0uf to 2.5 uf 400v in this video inplace of that value if u use 1000uf the starting current is very high compared to

I am a licensed elevator mechanic in two state and a licensed elevator inspector. A capacitor is used only for initial starting of motor or compressor or the likes that have a heavy load starting.Eliminating damage to components or serious current draw to building. Think of it as a battery after starting component it begins to recharge for next start. Has nothing at all to do with phasing. Diodes and rectifiers can change phasing. Getting into solid state you begin to get into gates were it really gets confusing

pls understand basic laws of electromagnets. when the flux generated by the EM is cut by the fan rotor(outer cover) heat will be very low since there is a flux change and the resistance in the coil is high. if u remove the rotor( outer cover) the u r not cutting any flux generated so the coil resistance is very low which causes it to burn. with the outer cover on there will be an increase in heat but definitely no fire!!!!!

Well, this is not exactly. If you take in simple terms energy has to be decipiate in some ways. Either by heat or mechanical motion. A rotating motor has higher reactance than a static one this is why we use soft start in heavy (KVA) motors. Rotating rotor produces an opposing flux that produces a reverse current (reverse EMF) lowering the effective current in the coil

A ceiling fan utilises single phase motors. Single phase motors are not self starting and hence require a push everytime. A capacitor does if for us automatically. Now what if we use a larger capacitor than the rated one? The auxiliary winding will get heated and and short out the winding but the way you dismantle the fan I belive this video is fake. Also use ufd instead of Mfd.

In ceiling fan, work of capacitor is to create single phase into almost two phase. If you use high value capacitor then it will make better two phase and your fan will run fast and also make less noise. So conclusion, this video if FAKE. These are those useless youtuber who can burn their home to hit there video on KZbin. You can clearly see while opening the Fan he took a small pause so that he can manually put fire into cover of FAN.

If I am getting it right, you connect the capacitor in series with the fan winding so because its capacity is so high its equvalent impedance is Xc=1/(2*pi*50Hz*0,045F)=0,07 Ohm whereas the original capacitor of 2microFarad has impedance Xc=1/(2*3.14*50Hz*0.000002F)=1592 Ohm. That 1592 Ohm impedance in series with the primary winding of the fan limits the maximum current at about Imax=220/1592=0,13 A and in reality protects it from burning. Am I right ?

Business man : Everyone knows thst the capacitative value (in farads) of a capacitor determines the amount of current supplied to a motor(fan in this case). It is unnecessary to destroy a fan to show that such large amount of current supplied by high value capacitor can wreck havoc. Very wasteful and mindless experiment. The outcome was obvious.

It will burn the coil. Capacitive reactance decreases with increasing value of C. People around here are writing about flux change and stuffs. Capacitor is to provide a 90° phase shift to the auxiliary coil. The resistance/number of turns is less than the primary coil so capacitor is connected to it. Bigger the capacitor higher will be the capacitance hence inrush current will be high that heat up the coil in turn burned the coil enamel.

Why the large capacitor destroyed it? I know that capacitor is used to create phase difference during the start of single phase motor. But why the larger capacitor nailed it?

I appreciate your interest in experiments but such dangerous experiment better to be conducted in a dedicated area or open air rather than in hostel or home as may lead to short circuit and fire in building. Any way did it cause regulator of fan also to burn or not?

It charges itself on voltage source&regulates output voltage. Obviously it sent too much juices to that motor.

Bhai fan me single phase induction motor use hoti hai which is not self starting ,so to start it we require capacitor .You gave more starting current that's why speed got overload and heating is proportional to speed with current . that's why it happened 😆☺😏 but meja aaya

What happened here exactly? I know a capacitor is used to temporarily store electricity. I’m guessing the discharge from the capacitor was too high of a wattage and fried the fan’s board before it even started to spin. ??
