It was just a few years ago that the local long armers near me all said we could not have after quilts because they were too difficult to needle thru that many layers, so disappointing. So I gave up. Then thanks to you I decided to ask my new long arm quilter if she could do it. She said "of course, this is not hand quilting, these machines are made for that". I was so excited. If not for you Karen I would never have asked. A delayed joy of after quilts has been awakened. Thank you.

Hi, I am going to start my quilting journey as soon as I get back Home to Florida. I have a Singer…bought at Walmart on night when my VERY old Singer died on me and I was told that they could bot repair it……it had made all my curtains and kid clothes as well as some of mine for over 30 yrs. I am thinking of perhaps buying a new or good used one better than what I have and friendly to quilting. I have a lot of respect and admiration for what you do and the money saving tips you hand out so freely make life a little easier. I was looking at BabyLok and would like your opinion on a good sewing machine that I would not have to break the bank buying as I am not a youngster either and on a fixed income,,,,,it would have to be well under 1K. One of the great things about it is that, if you don't finish all 100 blocks the first year, you can jump back in the next year. They do, however, change the pattern after several years. I think the present one has run for three years and there will be a new pattern for 2023.

Gorgeous, Karen! You're such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talents with us. I just finished loading a large backing on my quilting frame that I made from 5 long vertical strips. The seams pull tighter as I roll the back onto the rail. Is this because I used too small of a stitch length when sewing them together? I didn't pull them as I was sewing. I actually pinned them and let them flow through.
