i think the one of the most potent items in the game is blinding shells ,ive beaten bosses in nioh 1 and 2 because of these ,they run around blind for about 20 seconds,yet I never see them mentioned

yeah I agree, just have to dodge the enemies because even if they miss their attacks when they set up another one they still square up in your direction but without the tracking.

To add a tip. I would recommend checking out the kodoma bizzar just to see what items are on offer. It may give you some insight into what to take with you into the level. As an example in the 2nd story mission where you fight Endra (smoke/fire whirlwind) the bizzar offered water talisman to enhance your weapon with water which Endra was weak to.

Parry on dual swords is op (Block+triangle). You can destroy most revenants within 10sec if u parry their first attack then final blow after. Also make use of martial arts attacks (kicks as combo enders or skills that have an attack after your attack is deflected) as they obliterate enemy ki bars giving u free attacks on yokai/grapples on humans.

It can give back a weapon or the same weapon (armour and cores too), but I have given a mimic core before (can't remember the exact name, begins with an M) and it didn't give it back or another core. They always give some lantern item, restores anima, I think anything else depends on what clue it gives when you talk to it, complete missions to get translate their subtitles. I give them stones, they drop a lantern anima item and another 1 item of average value. I did sometimes give them small spirit stones, and more times than not would receive more items and my spirit stone back too.

As to raising the familiarity of weapons: can't you just use one of the items that you find a million of and will never be able to use them all up? Say Whetstone?

I don't understand why they removed the possibility to quick select the first item set by pressing R1 a little bit longer. You could be on item set 3, just press R1 for a second and it returns to item set 1. This was so useful. Instead of this you now have to switch manually to the first set, which is nearly impossible sometimes.

You must complete a "Final Dojo Mission for Each Catagory"& have 120,000 XP on the particular weapon type (for the skill tree that you are trying to unlock), in order to unlock them (these Missions aren't available until Late Game)....

Something i found out way too late, at the blacksmith when you want to quickly select lots of items just hold down triangle and press up or down and it will select everything And also when you press L3 you can toggle between storage /items you have on you And equipping an item with kodama sensor will highlight kodamas on the radar And to forge green items it's when you hover the selection on 'forge' button you can press square or triangle i forgot to select Oh and having magic leveled to 30 will allow you to prep way more magic (i think 35 points) These are things i wishe i knew earlier xD

For some reason my elixir is always at 8 no matter which region, even when I started out in a new region with no kodama found yet. Then I get the +1 elixir from the ninja skill tree and now it's always +9

Getting all the kodamas in a region gets you 8 elixirs(this is the max you're supposed to carry without a passive) and there's a passive out there probably in the samurai/ninja skill tree while gives you +1 elixir. So you'd be carrying 9 from that point onwards. That's the max number of elixirs you can carry. Also if you have elixirs stored in your storage which you usually end up collecting in a run it lets you carry 8(or 9 with the passive)until those elixirs run out then you start off with just 4 with the passive that's 5. I hope this doesn't sound too confusing

Andy Fate if you go to the hidden tea house in your starting point menu there's a clan you can join that gives you +1 elixir so you can carry 10!

Idk about the kodamas having anything to do with number of elxirs held, they just top up automatically when at a shrine, though it is a limited amount we have, unlike jutsu items that replenish from thin air. Maybe I would notice this more if I constantly had 0 elixirs. At the beginning of the game we have 3 elixirs, and it would replenish them as if they were like a jutsu item, weird really, but I just think of them as what they are, usable items that replenish by finding more of them.

as I know, in the old Nioh you had to go to the ninja skill tree and upgrade the elixir capacity, you can check that out. (I'm not a new player or anything, I'm floor 999 on the abyss in Nioh.)

It is possible that you can pick up so many elixers that you will almost always have your max number from them just being dropped by monsters without having to worry about kodoma especially since they just go in the storage box after you have the max and pick up more. Also you can set the kodoma bizzar to auto purchase anything from the bizzar if you have the amount of divine rice you need.

High Stance only allows 1 dodge-roll (w a short cool-down pause, before you can dodge-roll again). One will need to find a Kodama per Elixer slot (to get all 8 Elixirs to be available again). Once one has calloected 5 Kodama in that Region they will have 8 Elixirs slots available (3 default Elixer slots + 5 possibly collected Kodama slots)....

Something I find very annoying is that munition is not filled up atomatically when you die (what happens a lot) and you have to enter the kodama bazaar at the shrine every time to buy arrows and bullets. 🙄 OH, and a question regarding the mimics. They seem to be VERY rare. I am in the fourth region and I didn´t find one single mimic until now. Do they appear randomly and is it possible to make them spawn by aborting and restarting a mission with a chest in the near of the first shrine? As you know they are needed for 2 trophies. Nice guide by the way and I love your calm voice. 👍

I can't believe how much I disliked nioh at first then years later after breaking my hand while off of work I'm like I'll beat the game and be done with it. Get my money's worth and boy oh boy before I finished the game 2/3s I was looking at dlc and nioh 2 and bought the collectors edition and absolutely love the games now. I still prefer the first nioh. Main due to the levels. I think they are much better for the most part and like them more. Platinumed nioh and now working on nioh 2 to platinum

For those who dont know prep barrier talismans even if your not running omnyo they help tremendously they can dispel yokai realms(the little pools yokais drop) just by touching them and speed up ki recovery drastically in the dark realm.

There are only two types of people in this game: those that use omnyo and those that quit playing quite early into the NG+ cycles. The game is kinda balanced around it.

The monster looking enemies can be tough, I find it easier when I let the enemy lead the fight, just react to what they do and attack once they finish their attack, use running to bait that attack out of them, this way you can get used to how long their attack lasts and how many hits it is as well as the range. If you start off the game going toe to toe constantly in their face and relying on perfect dodging to survive the fight, then most of the time you will die, it's only with practice that this becomes something worth trying often. Use your ranged weapons to get sneaky headshots on any enemy that is standing still or who stops briefly while patrolling. And check your surroundings for ambushes, a lot of the time these catch us off guard and we scramble about getting our arses handed to us lol.

Yeah that's a good point; don't make the same mistake I did and hord your resources, or abstain from using them because you wanted to defeat a boss 'thr right way' lol. Don't be afraid of or even ashamed of using your items, and a great way to see the ideal items in a particular level is to use the kodama bazaar(in offer section at a shrine). There, whichever items are most beneficial for a stage are available for sale, which you'll need divine rice to purchase, which can be farmed very easily by offering equipment and weapons you don't need.

One last thing, if you're intimidated, don't worry about beating the first level in one sitting. Even though I'm used to soulsborne style games, I had a lot of trouble getting into it in the first place. My first time playing a soulsborne game(Bloodborne) I just twiddled with the first level for quite the while, and while I wasn't crushing it, just slowly finding my way around the games mechanics was fun as well

Go to the dojo, practice dodging and blocking and try out every weapon to see which one fits your play style. I died trying to use the switchglave but I killed when I used the splitstaff. I had to use a benevolent grave and the sloth talisman to get passed the first boss. Also, what he says in this video helps a lot; when you can't seem to dodge fast enough: use low stance.

3 best tips for me: You can remodel weapons with 2 new stats instead of one, just press triangle and then x for the second skill and you have them both. You can avoid grap attacks from enemies by using the yokai abilities (doesn´t work with all of them) Have a skill that lets you regenerate health every time you absorb amrita and use the useless 100amrita chrystals (or better versions of that) for a pretty much permanent live recovery.

You are not supposed to fight the 1st miniboss in your first attempt (at least I did not and I clearly remember a tip saying it is not necessary to fight everyone). Run past him and continue the level.

tip for soul cores kasha and shuten doji have great amrita absorption effects that can stack since they activate in the same way one makes you move/attack faster while the other buffs your defense for armor go with the samurai general samurai from the dark lands sets since they both have atk buffs tied to them although general is better since it doesnt require the entire set for its buffs instead it buffs your attack by 12% percent every time you get a kill and can be tempered to get several effects in for onmyo go with sloth and extraction since sloth slows the the enemy down and extraction draws amrita out when you land hits witch automatically gets absorbed by you which triggers the speed and defense buffs that kasha and shuten doji have in fact if you really want to be untouchablr use a weapon like kusarigama that hits multiple times in which case go with the onr eyed dragon set since the full set bouns is a damage buff that gets bigger based on the number of hits you land in any given combo

For the fake walls, look at their eyes, they are the color of the gesture you should use to make them let you pass. Don't use agresive gestures.

The game is easy if you play it righ..i died 800 times before i knew what to do...all you have to do is level up onyo magic..equip everything that level up magic...use fire lighing water..use the slow magic...use ki speed recovery... Also dont forget to use the canon and the gun... And last thing the best yokai is the yoyo wheel...u get that when u defeat the wheel boss.it destroy bosses when they go dark realm.
