A tip a lot of users are missing is that you can break yokai appendages (they usually glow yellow). This permanently lowers an enemies maximum ki and does a burst of ki damage on success. Kunai, some yokai skills and ranged attacks are great for this. Try shooting an Enkis horn to open a fight. 👍

One personal advice that has carried me through most of Nioh 1, and also currently in Nioh 2. When you manage to empty a human ki bar, don't go for the "execution", instead, use a big attack that can put them on the ground, execution on the ground, and same attack again. You gain 2 free attacks this way, I mostly use Cross sign with my dual katanas build, and human enemies are simply melting.
@Jared_427 күн бұрын
Solid advice I will however, be disregarding it as grappling enemies feels much more satisfying
@ImLousy4 жыл бұрын
Should also be noted that there are many burst attacks that only the Brute burst counter is suited for. Human bosses guardian spirit attacks for example. Also in the yokai illustrations you can press R2 to change information and see enemies weaknesses and resistances.

Another way to tell what type of gesture to use is look for a red text revenent grave and read the way they died. For example, if they died in a disrespectful way don't use the red gestures, instead use the blue or yellow gestures since you only get two chances to wall.

@outlawedsloth4254 жыл бұрын
A bit late here, but I do have information to add on to the illusory wall. You have two attempts to make the right gesture. Nearby the wall, if you see any revenants, they will most likely give you a clue to how to get past the wall. The cause of death should be along the lines of "Died due to his friendly/neutral/unfriendly behaviour". The way to figure out the nature of your emotes is just by colour. Blue is friendly, red is unfriendly.
@agidyne96764 жыл бұрын
There’s more to the creepy walls. There’s always a grave nearby the walls, sometimes even some dead players too. They reveal how they died. “Dead for their Friendly, Neutral, or Aggressive behavior” Other than that, the list was nice. I learned some new things. I played the first Nioh, so I already knew most of the stuff. The bit about burst counters will help me out lots! Thanks you!

A little pro tip for the guardian spirit Tengen Kujaku. Save your small spirit stones cause they can be used to buff you depending on which stance your in whilst using said guardian spirit. High stance- attack buff, Mid stance- Def buff, Low stance- Ki recovery speed

One thing I’ve learned too is that if you are being attacked by an enemy combo. You can block while you are being hit in mid combo. You can’t dodge unfortunately, but if you are being hit by a combo you can block. Which saves a few HP.
@BiGxNaStY694 жыл бұрын

Couple of gameplay things, dash attacks are very useful, but you have to evade out of them to avoid the pause. And with backwards high stance evasion attack, which you dubbed back step attack (I love that, btw), if you switch stances to mid in the high stance back step attack animation, you can continue a combo with no pause. Honestly i think phantom is the better, even if my build uses yatagarasu. Brute is 100x better than feral due to consistency, but cant burst counter ranged attacks n some fast stuff like tesso or gyuki, in the end phantom wins, n dats make me sad all phantom spirits hv bad bonuses.
@nightrain11214 жыл бұрын
Miguel Oliveira feral is 100% the best one, you can counter more stuff much quicker and with some builds, you can follow up with some beefy punishes, as well as that you also get a really good dash with I frames that can be improved with the cat spirit. Feral looks the best and performs the best in my opinion, but we all have different preferences I guess.
@zephiryun74084 жыл бұрын
Honestly nekomata is useless due to t fact timing s just human mistake. Also phantom s waaaay more consistent than feral's and u can counter ranged atacks. I think u can improve feral consistency overall but n my opinion even then cant overcome the phantom's. What makes feral good is the escape button it provides. U also have one with phantom but it will cost ki if u re not out of it. My build uses yatagarasu who s feral type n yeah it is great, but sometimes i jus feel is impossible to counter some moves. In the late game burst counters arent strong as they were before in early mid game, and dat jus make feral shine more bc phantom spirit buffs are mediocre(but tengen kujaku dmg bonus reeeeee).

A small correction about the mimic chest. You are not 'forced' to fight them. If you whistle or if you trigger the chest opening they will always do a emote first for you to mimic.
@lovxte4 жыл бұрын
For the illusionary walls. Usually there is a revenant nearby and it’ll say what it died by in the color of one of the gestures. Do not pick that gesture type but instead, try one of the other two types and you’ll never have to fight a wall.
@Kaimax614 жыл бұрын
yeah, it just wants 1 from the the color type of the gesture. Like Celestial here said, sometimes there are graves that shows that they died because of "a gesture", now you're 100% guaranteed to appease Nurikabe, since you only have 2 choices left and the Nurikabe tolerates one wrong choice. Of course there are some where there are no graves at all. lel

Also with the hidden walls, if there is a revenant nearby the Nurikabe, go hover over it and it will say “died by nurikabe used positive gesture” and then you know you have to use a red or yellow. You get two tries, meaning so long as there is a revenant nearby you’ll know which to use. Also it doesn’t matter which gesture, just anything from the right color of gestures

Not sure if this has been said before but you can basically skip the sheathing animation for any R1+O skill (Iai, Night Rain,...) by first hold R1 with your weapons drawn, slightly tilt the left analog in the desired direction then quickly press O. If you did it correctly then your weapons would instantly be sheathed allowing you to just perform the skill.

About the perks you unlock in the shifting skill tree; a great advice is to put elemental damage on your attacks that can do billions of hit according you have the ki for it. I don t have the english names but it s usually L1+triangle hold. That way you can basically apply an element garantee and for free. You can pretty much give the confusion debuff to your foes in a blink. Super useful ;) (I personally like thunder a lot on these L1+triangle since the lightning debuff slows your opponent quiet a lot, super convenient!) Oh and another great one is to have lantern fruits as shortcut. You gather a shit ton of them from the sudamas, gives back a lot of anima for your OP yokai abilities. Super convenient to use VS tough bosses!

In regards to walls, little something that some people often do, if they find one they will place their blue grave next to them, usually close enough if you check their grave the wall will growl so you can notice it, that goes for a lot of secret areas and survivable drops as well, so if you see a random blue grave in the middle of nowhere often enough it's someone else trying to push you toward a secret.

The "High Backstep" attack is actually done off of the rolling dodge so you can do it in mid stance as well if you double tap dodge to step -> roll, which also gives you some follow-up attacks from it due to mid stance's higher attack combo limit. 8:45 correction needed here, it is not specific random gesture. It requires any blue or yellow or red gesture. If it want blue gesture any blue gesture is fine. Good way to go about it is looking reverant near it is it usually say why they died. For example if reverant near it say it die because of polite gesture or something you know blue is wrong so either yellow or red. Because you have 2 chance to win it 100% win because it you eliminate one wrong option by looking at why reverants died. So even if you pick wrong gesture your next gonna be 100% right

The Murakabe don't want specific gestures. They want a specific type of gesture: friendly (blue), neutral (yellow), or aggressive (red).

I watched your video when I was just a few hours in to the game and it's very useful. I finished the game a week ago and I love it but doubt I would've gotten along this well with it without a good tips video

Here's a tip if you're having problems with humanoid enemies for some reason: equip the yoki pokem- I mean yokai. It does a command grab. I believe it goes through blocks

Spear has a skill that swaps you and enemy location leading to a vulnerable shot at hitting them once. Very useful on tanky enemies that blocks a ton.

@@dra6o0n Yeah I used this in Nioh 1 and it's fun

This is a good video. Thank you for mentioning block buffering, very important design concept in Nioh. I really think this should be mentioned in the in-game tutorials. Btw, try following up a dash attack with an evasion attack. The evasion buffers so it comes out fast, and evasion attacks let you finish your combo string :)

mt biggest issue is having to hit the enemies 15 times to kill them, yet I get killed in 1 or 2 hits. The early game is so damn relentless

If you look at the gear drops, the highest number is 10-15 levels above the maps level.

Yo I love the video one thing that isn't really talked about that I would add is your soul cores work better in yokai relms obviously you gain more amina when in those relms but they also either a) have an added effect, or b) they hit harder, if you use the soul core for the guy that waves his wand and shoots fire balls, out of the yokai relms he shoots 4, but in the realm he'll shoot 8

Another tip is that bosses will drop skills for weapons not listed in their skill tree. The bosses that drop these skills all use the weapons the skill they drop goes to. Each weapon has about 2 or 3 of these hidden skills that need to be farmed off bosses and are usually some form of attack the boss is able to do.

You can switch to your saved sets in any shrines. So, you can make a field set or a boss set. I don’t know why people are complaining that they wish they have access to a quick equipment load out when in fact you do.

Other tips and tricks videos : You press R1 to attack. Try to attack enemies to kill them. Your video was actually informative and well done. Even though I've already played 50+ hours in a week, most of the stuff you showed I didn't even know. Keep up the good work.

It's worth noting that using some spirit core ability auto evades enemy grapple attacks. From what iv experienced, the ones that transform you into a Yoki that work best, as the enemy can no longer grab your new, hulking form.

If you happen to find the way around the Illusory Wall (Nurikabe), just removing the talisman will dispell it.
