It seems like any type of rubber or form glued or attached to a rim is gonna expand even the rim ...if they're expanding on a road surface then ....they probably just ripping apart quicker thru friction G ....could it be possible to use real car rubber ....like a remold...but injection mold a whole rim and tyre as one piece....I'm not an engineer ...it's just a thought ...love Ur stuff kev

I got a wheel idea: Aluminium wheels, beadlock on both sides. Rubber tiers, clued air tight and draw a vacuum between the tire and rim.
@Neue-Werkstatt-BM14 күн бұрын
I asked myself that from the beginning: Why does he use plastic rims? That's a real tire drama. Aluminum or carbon fiber rims and real rubber tires reinforced with carbon fiber would perhaps solve the problem.

Hot tip. To cut difficult polycarbonate body shells and wings, use a Dremel cutting wheel, on the Dremel flexible drive with the Dremel small hand held bit holder. Sweet as, turns an hour of blistered fingers into 3 or 4 minutes of cutting wheel effortless work. Then, use the Dremel fine sanding drum to de bur and smooth the edges. Job done, in a few minutes.

@jasonlind67902 ай бұрын
Congrats on 204!!!!!! I probably don’t know what I’m talking about but if the material of your wheels and tires are the weak point then you should run bigger wheels and tires to reduce the centrifugal strain on them. I figure that you can problem solve the issues with the internals to compensate for that.

So Kev, what about prior to gluing the foam to the wheel, you wrap some winds of kevlar thread? It looks like the plastic is expanding causing the foam to fail. Some winds of kevlar thread may help to keep that from happening, just like radial tires. Just make some radial rims.

Haha, wrote this prior to watching the whole video. Looks like it definitely does not work with rubber. But it may with foam?

Brilliant video kev, thanks for taking us along for the ride. Congratulations on making the 200+mph club 🤟👏👏 awesome achievement, and a real serious contender. For the wheels, could you not make them from the same material they make roller skate wheels, add a bolt in centre hub, and can machine them down to size wanted, make them thinner etc. could even lathe small grooves if wanted. Might not be enough traction 🤔 but just a thought.

When I was a teenager before I started drag racing at the track I remember an older gentleman telling me if you want to find the weakest link in your car take it to a prepped drag racing track. Because your tires will not slip/spin and all of that torque to find the weakest link, that doesn’t usually happen on the street because the tires just spin.

I’ve watch3d this in bits today, I did watch all your videos when you released them. This is by far your most involved in depth RC attempt. The car is just too heavy and powerful for the tyres, that’s its achilles heal. Just have to find the right recipe to get them to work, then I think it ‘could’ hit that magic 250MPH!

You should try turning down the foam tires with a tire turner as much as possible, maybe just save about 2mm thickness max and round off the edges properly, you can also try gluing the edges. Good luck :)

I would've left the tire openings covered for aerodynamics on the body, the only problem I see is that you missed the opportunity to build a full on Batmobile, you already have the wing just need the paint job 😅 Cool Build 👍

What a awesome work from Scorched rc. Impressive!
@IntertemporalTravelerАй бұрын
So, I don’t know if you’ve solves your wheel problem, but my intuition says that what is needed is a composite of foam and rubbber or plastic. The rubber/plastic would need to be latticed through the foam in some way or another. Not sure if it would be better to have the lattice come through the surface of the tire or not. I imagine doing it that way would work better with a rubber lattice though. Of course that means paying a company to make something completely custom or somehow doing it yourself. Also, the rubber would probably need to be much stronger than standard RC solid rubber tires.

Damn! epic build. I see the scorched parts are absolutely beautiful. I just built a arrma 1/8 outcast 6s transformed to kraton exb w/ HobbyWing max 6 G2 & 5687 on 8S. I put a M2C perfect mesh motor mount in to fit the 56mm can. I was considering scorched for some options was torn between the two. Well I can certainly say they'll be getting my business for those Absolutely epic steering knuckles! running 43t//25 then 50t/25 (I have no clue where to begin w/ picking gear ratio) My esc was acting overheated on the literal 2nd run through grass field hit a sprinkler head about 2.5 inches protruding & she shut down.. it turned back on 15m later the beeps sounded bad.

I think you’re on the right lines narrowing the wheels. Go as narrow as possible, less coning, less centrifugal force from the foam and less friction with the surface.

Wonder if for tyres... You could mount like sand paper on a kevlar belt, like a rotary sander belt but the grip would be impregnated into the kevlar thats woven together so no joins and no expansion, could adjust the grip with the courseness of whatever you use for grip...

@PitchUpCampsiteReviews26 күн бұрын
Kev put 2 motors in the front and only run 1 in the rear. The car has too much drive to the rear and believe it or not it's spinning the rear up even at 180mph. Just think about it, the car still pulled 170 with one of the motors fighting to go backwards. You don't need that motor and the reduction of torque will help to reduce the spin which is what's helping to destroy the wheels and tyres. Sometimes less really dose give you more. 2 motors on the front, 1 on the rear, let it behave like a dart.
@DRIVE-N-FLY2 ай бұрын
You should try putting the Carbon ring on the outside of the wheel but just on one half so you have half tire and half foam. And mayby make the foam stick out a bit more than the Carbon so it dosent scrabe on the ground.🤷♂️
@sacharouchier51742 ай бұрын
What about increasing the wheel diameter? for example if you increase the diameter from 80mm to 120mm, you would reduce the rpm of the tires by over 30%! Keep up the good work!
