Last year, i purchased the same type of glass pens here in the United States at what we call the dollar store, which is called Dollar Tree. They increased all items to $1.25, a few years back. When I saw they were selling glass pens, I purchased all of them, which ended up around 8 in 5 different colors, and ink was included. The ink color matched the barrel of the glass pen. Around 3 years ago, I purchased 2 hand crafted glass pens made in Italy. I believe they were around $20 each. I never tested them against each other or against the hand crafted ones. I'm so glad you did this experiment, and I would love to see a video on your amazing drawing talent. I've been a huge fan of your channel for a few years and am always amazed at what you create! Thank you for making the world a more beautiful place to be living in. ❤~Gina

You too? I also purchased 4 of those pens at DT! I was pretty satisfied with them, they wrote as good as the one I purchased at an art shop a year before, sadly I paid $10 for that particular one. 😅 Oh well.

Thank you for the very interesting information! I was surprised to learn that there are stores in the U.S. where you can buy low-priced glass pens! And I'm glad you love glass pens🥰

I have the green glass pen! I should have got the other colors 😔 if I come across them, I will definitely them!
@GinasCorvette6 ай бұрын
@1hinita the green is pretty, look for the blue and pink too. Originally, I thought there were 5 in total colors, but now that I'm looking at what I purchased, there were only those three colors. I wasn't sure how long the dollar tree would be selling them, so I grabbed all of them. If you end up not finding anymore ( when I returned a few months later to the store they no longer sold them) I would love to send you one of the pink and blue glass pens and the little glass tubes of matching ink.
I bought a glass pen because I wanted to draw with a glass pen like you. It was just a cheap product from China and so scratchy that I didn't enjoy using it much. It was very interesting to see and hear the difference between a cheap and expensive glass pens.

High-quality glass pens made by Japanese craftsmen are said to be made from very hard glass. In addition to the material, the height of the polishing also affects the writing quality.

Same - my first glass pen nearly put me off of using glass pens at all because it barely held ink at all and was horribly scratchy. Videos like kaitekiart's helped me realize that not only were there other options, but the one I got was just a bad make 😅 These reviews are also super helpful! 百円 stores seem to have some pretty good quality considering their price point. And the Kan Seifu pen review really helped me realize the difference in quality - even without a direct side-by-side comparison like there was here! I didn't realize even just the difference in sound when writing with them, and that was another really nice and helpful thing to have a side-by-side comparison on. It really can add to the experience when writing with them!!
Great video about the glass pens, it was very informative. I have one & a collection of inks but haven't tried it yet. Thank you for the demonstration.

This was so interesting, thank you! I was surprised to hear the difference between your expensive glass pens compared to the 100 yen pens. Glass dip pens and fountain pen ink is how I originally found your channel. I love watching all your videos, drawing and painting. I especially love when you draw and paint with fountain pen ink. You are a very talented artist and I’m grateful that you share your creativity here for us to see 💕

the sound comparison was so cool :0 ! i think the best way to describe them would be that the higher quality glass pen almost sounds like a Bic ballpoint pen whereas the inexpensive glass pen sounds like a pencil will you do an illustration in the future with the yen supplies c: ?

This was so interesting - thank you for sharing!! I have a glass pen from Amazon that came as a set with inks. So far I've found better ink performance from name brand inks (Pilot, Ferris Wheel Press) than the inks the pen came with. I'm looking forward to when I can get my hands on a nicer glass pen since I've found the Amazon one cannot go very far on a single dip, regardless of ink type.

I haven't tried the ink that set with the glass pens, but when I watched the review video, it felt very watery! I think It is easier to write with ink that has a certain degree of stickiness. I like PILOT and Ferris Wheel Press as well as SAILOR inks.

Thank you for this very informative video! Many artists with limited budgets can't afford the expensive glass pens in your collection. Starting out with something modestly priced is an excellent opportunity to experiment. This difference in quality is clearly obvious! The big pens glide across the paper, while the cheap ones sound like they're scratching into the paper.
@kaitekiart76666 ай бұрын
That's right! And I am going to try polishing these inexpensive glass pens. If the polishing is done well, the writing performance will improve. I will leave the high-end glass pens to maintenance services. but I prefer these inexpensive ones where I can practice polishing. These inexpensive ones are great for polishing practice.

@@kaitekiart7666 Hello! Is there a video where you do the polishing? I'd love to watch it. Your channel and you are the reason I recently bought a glass pen and inks package from Amazon :) Just used it twice and is sitting on my desk for the chance to got the courage to paint and fail and then paint some more. A video on the history of how glass pens developed over the ages would be interesting. When were they invented? Who invented them? Etc.😬

I almost bought a nice glass pen when I went to Japan, but I decided it would be so sad to have it just stay unused on the shelf. If I find a cheap one next time I might get it instead.
Sensai is right!! I have a cheap glass pen it has this type of blue shimmery ink bottle and even if I keep that grey plastic thingy in it the ink still makes a mess on my hands😂 I will be careful when I get any glass pen next time I enjoyed the pastries and ASMR thank you 😊❤

It was very interesting to see and hear the difference with the high end glass pens and these cheap ones. It was very noticable. But for how cheap those are. They seem to work very well. Also the spelling of Dark Glay was quite amusing. The Sepia ink is very red toned compared to all versions of Sepia i have used when it comes to paint and my colored micron pens. I tend to use them when i ink the skin areas of a character instead of pure black. It's a subtle difference. But it works very well to add more interest to my art.

I see! I certainly think it's fascinating to use Sepia ink to draw line drawings of characters!😻

Great video! Educational and informative!😁 Really sad the stores in europe dont have most art stuff like the ones in japan, and even less ones for little money. We have everywhere so called 1€ stores but the time is long over where everything would really cost 1€😅 we have art stores where you can buy artist quality stuff like watercolors from schminke etc. But there is not really any store i know of with cheap or affordable art materials. Whenever i see videos of people trying low cost art materials from japan with suprisingly good quality my inner envy starts to cry out😅
@kaitekiart76666 ай бұрын
It seems that high prices are hurting artists all over the world😭 The prices of Japanese art supplies have gone up a bit, and I'm thankful that there are many inexpensive products like this on sale. The biggest problem is that there will be no one to buy art supplies and art supply manufacturers will disappear, so I hope that my contents will help in some small way to prevent that from happening.
I When I saw your video of you with the glass pen I really wanted to have it drawn too. I ordered a set from AliExpress and the same thing happened to me with the ink as you did, I also got my hands covered in ink😂😂. I had to laugh when that happened too. The ink colors were very nice 😍 I have a question. I saw that you smeared the ink colors with a brush to see what the colors look like. Did you dip the brush into the ink paint or did you dilute it a little with water?
@kaitekiart76666 ай бұрын
After that accident, my hands were pink for a while! I was just lucky that I wasn't wearing my favorite shirt😂 I wiped off as much water as possible from the brush I used for Swatches, so the colors are almost the original color of inks.
