The thing about drawing in pen without a rough sketch is just having the upmost confidence in your self and in your art style. It's truly a wonderful thing to draw without a base sketch, believe me
@Ezekiel_Allium2 жыл бұрын
Possibly controversial take, but as someone who's preferred method is working fully in ink: Having a strict rigid structure of what is and isn't your sketch can actually be damaging. If you treat everything like a "sketch" it can let you work looser and more freely. Prodbably different for other people as well though, this is just what helped me improve when I was struggling with art
@squidboness21832 жыл бұрын
@@Ezekiel_Allium No, I like that. Everyone in the art community's so different and they've all got their own methods, I guess I was speaking from personal experience is all :]

@@Ezekiel_Allium I think I get what you mean, it's really easy to fall into the trap of simply tracing when inking, and when you overcome that, it's still hard keeping the movement, and I guess flowiness of sketches when lining. That being said, the cleanliness when inking over sketch lines can be super helpful, especially when you're planning to add color over top, as it can kinda share the spotlight a bit more that way. There are an infinite number of right ways to do it and you managed to find your own right way!

To me sketches freak me the fuck out, because when I try to paint over it I get really focused on doing it perfectly and to not miss anything I mostly do outlines so I can work on a composition more easly, but going into detail in the sketch "scares" my creativity But as it was said here, each artist has a unique method to them :)

@ninsophy97982 жыл бұрын
I mean profile is a lot easier to draw compared to a 3/4 or a straight because it basically forces you to be mindful of your proportions. I tried drawing sketchless for a year myself so I know a thing or two about it. I wonder if anyone here can actually observe the drawing? It isn't a masterpiece but is enough to try out pens i guess? Nothing to hype about really. Surely nothing to reference or learn about either. I'm going to look for the artist's actual drawings. Her lines seem very pretty and loose so I have no doubts she knows her stuff.

Drawing without references is drawing less than your potential on purpose. Every artist needs references, even Kim Jung Gi looks at references before starting his pieces and he seems to “draw from the heart” without a sketch. References being called a cheat is something experienced artists in the community have been trying to squash so beginner artists don’t fall into that disgusting trap.
@axelsgf2 жыл бұрын
@@bloohazze i understand what you mean but I enjoy drawing with references or not i never meant it as a bad thing everyone needs references with their art from beginners to even professionals i only meant that their art is so beautiful and I wish to one day be just as confident as they are with their art.

Pretty clear Proko never draws out of his imagnation lol) I am pretty sure most people don't use reference for the sketchbook - if you plan to activtily improve your drawing skills (specially beginners) or do professional work you should use reference. :)

@@lukezaffram7087 bro it took me 2 years to go from absolutely HORRIBLE, to tolerable. Mostly it's just about grasping an understanding of why things look the way they do and a bit of practice to help settle in muscle memory and develop your skill at drawing precise shapes. Lastly confidence and believing in yourself while you draw, that only comes with the desire to make something you truly want to. Also some people just grasp an understanding sooner than others, so it may not even take you years to learn, maybe just a week or a month.
