You're also going to need to check the valve lash, probably new tensioner and idler pulley, and start thinking about a timing chain now, cause either the timing chain tensioner, vtc actuator, or the chain itself is going to go bad.

There was a recall on the valve cover, its due to overspray at the factory. Also, the airbags.
@Gregg01126 жыл бұрын
When you do that valve cover gasket it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check the valve lash. Honda wants it checked/ adjusted at 100k. The compliance bushings in the front control arms are about 20 a piece from Honda and will make the car ride like new when done.

Moog part #k200799 Rsx type s lower control arm bushings. They are spherical and fit perfectly. Nice upgrade at $25 each.

@@ryanfulkman cool tip. Is ride quality affected? It’s already too stiff for me where I drive it (horrible city roads!

@peakay2002 it won't affect your ride quality. It will affect steering response. At least that's what I remember... sold my Si almost 2 years ago. I miss it sometimes.

Only thing he didn't check was the Transmission, and that tends to be a problem on the stick shift civics.

It depends on the year and the automatics have been a bigger issue.
@michaelhuebner68435 жыл бұрын
Wrong. Honda manual transmissions are awesome, it's the automatics that have issues. Fortunately all Honda Civic SI models only have manual transmissions. Honda understands the market that wants to buy these cars unlike Toyota. 2020 Toyota Supra is automatic only.

Sorry but If it’s not a manual Honda I wouldn’t consider purchasing it for 1 second 😂

There have been numerous issues with this generations manual transmission, they tend to grind on the 3rd gear
@brucelee72835 жыл бұрын
depends who owned the car before you bought it... too many ricer high school kids buy these k20 civics nowadays...that's why manuals can also be bad to buy used, because they are easier to mess up and destroy in the hands of some ricer kid dumping the clutch, messing up the synchros, and downshifting without rev matching, burning the clutch to oblivion, 8k rpm launches dump clutched....trust me it happens a lot more than you think....otherwise these 6 speed transmissions should still be smooth over 200k miles without grinds or problems at all. these are fantastic manual gearboxes, its just the majority of them were owned by kids who just got their license and abused the shit out of these cars. sometimes buying an automatic is more reliable, because it is physically impossible for some ricer kid to destroy it since it shifts itself.

I bought a 2006 Honda Civic Coupe with 130,000 miles on it in 2016 I have 260k and an alternator is only thing I've replaced on my R18 engine... These R18s never get any love either they're one of the best engines Honda ever put you drive it slow and quiet u can get 35 mpg or you can floor the pedal and rev it out the 6700 RPM the 5-speed 1.8 L can hit 60 in 7.7 seconds with 140 HP 128 lb to torque and it responds immediately and very well to bolt ons a muffler delete high performance air filter cold air intake and some good rubber these cars are wonderful fun-to-drive daily drivers they have some power to but you really have to rev it out and this is the last true high-revving Honda Civics b r 18 is rev happy it does not like low RPMs and it has kind of like a fake VTech people say but it's a noticeable Improvement in power output when you floor it past a certain RPM

A mechanic will usually charge you $25 to $50 for an inspection depending upon how thorough of a job you want. A visual inspection of a vehicle like this mechanic did will run $25 to $30.
