Thanks for answering my question! The medieval period is certainly overlooked and underrated, Christianity and Islam had a lot more to do in preserving and pursuing scientific knowledge than people understand.

Congrats with 100k! I'm currently studying a bachelors degree in history here in my homeland, Norway. Your content has helped me with the will to continue studying and focus on finishing my degree. Before I was scared of the thought that there is a lack of oppurtunities when it comes to a career with history. But this Q&A and your channel has given me back the hope and happinees with the subject. The happines of studying/researching, learning and share historical knowlegde with others. I will be done with the bachelor in 2024 and am currently in my 4th semester. Again, Congrats on the huge boom in subscribers and thank you for the great content you make!

I'm so glad you have The Wire as your favourite show, it's criminally underrated here in the Netherlands, every season is such a masterpiece. I will never forget the Omar courthouse scene. It just gives such a prefect view on how instutions function and disfunction in our current society.

Not sure this is a video you have considered but I would love to see a video on the history of money. Why we decided gold was the best thing to exchange and how it’s now basically all digital. I think it’s an interesting story of global human trust and would love to see your spin on it

Since you are a Historian it is only reasonable that I present you with my Theory of History. LOL This is influenced by what used to be a famous book, The Games People Play by Eric Berne. Human beings play various Power Games resulting in: S.P.E.R.M. Wars! Human beings engage in: Sexual Power Games Political Power Games Economic Power Games Religious Power Games Military Power Games These games can overlap as in the famous case of Cleopatra, Julius Caesar & Marc Antony. Technological advances add strategies and tactics to all of these games. Like nuclear weapons and the Cold War. How has The Pill affected sexual power games? Then politics gets into it with Roe vs Wade. Now the world has a problem of not dealing with physics in relation to economics. Consumer Goods wear out, cars, refrigerators, air conditioners. Our nitwit economists add them to GDP, but they do not get subtracted as they wear out. Then the replacements get added. So planned obsolescence contributes to "economic growth" as we trash the planet.

Very Freudian indeed
@psikeyhackr69142 жыл бұрын
@@ThePresentPast_ So how good is history if historians choose sides in the power games? Planned Obsolescence is a phenomenon begun in the 20th century. Can it be ignored in future history books? LOL

"No one could read Latin" and they "didn't really buy the books"? This is nonsense from the mouth of a man who made his name by criticising the superficial false narratives that Johnny Harris sometimes proclaims.

You see each other at the museum, she approaches you at the bar, and you think she "casually" moves to the Netherlands a month later? Sorry to break it to you, but I suspect there is nothing casual about that...
