101 CLUB WON US OVER 4…OR RATHER, 5 WAYS

A spur-of-the-moment last-minute apres-work TGIF dinner out brought us to 101 Patio Bar & Grill which is part of a triumvirate of restaurants at Residence Inn by Marriot (the space formerly occupied by The Conrad Hotel) just off of the Mag Mile on Erie Street.
While the other two 101 Club restaurants are the 101 Sky Terrace and 101 Club American Grill (www.101club.co..., the street level 101 Patio Bar & Grill won us over four ways: 1) “Happy Hour” specials from 5P - 7P; 2) Easy access off the Mag Mile ; 3) the Mediterranean menu; and 4) live entertainment by a female pianist who also sings.
Then there were the two Alexanders. The first Alexander was our server who perceptively got our menu orders in, starting with my glass of Cabernet & Chuck’s Gin Martini. A platter of Lamb Hummus (braised lamb ragu & Za’atar pita) pleasantly surprised our palates as a perfect preface to our entree choices: Hearth-Baked Whole Branzino for Chuck and Seafood Paella for me.
The second Alexander showed up as we were settling our bill. He happened to be the restaurant GM after handing us his business card. He wowed us by having applied a neighborhood discount after being made aware by the first Alexander that I regularly walk past this area after work. Furthermore, he told us that they’re offering a 40% industry discount (big heads up to my fellow hotel & restaurant colleagues!) on Mondays. Now there’s the 5th reason for 101 Club to win us over.
