Interesting fact: The cartoon that Jasper and Horace are watching is the 3rd Silly Symphony, "Springtime" (1929), animated by Walt Disney himself and his early partner Ub Iwerks. The soundtrack from that short, a rendition of Grieg's "Morning Mood", is a bit off from the original short, obviously because they're timing it with the action occurring in this film, so that it ends when Jasper tries to drink a bottle but accidentally ends up kissing poor Sgt. Tibbs.

I feel like they’re pretty underrated as Disney Villains, they were going to kill and skin puppies, hurt or even kill Sergeant (the “tabby cat”) just for fun and in 101 Dalmatians 2 (spoiler) they tied up Nanny in a well to die! Not to speak of that creepy scene where Jasper hid a weapon behind him as calling one of the pups over with whistles and a soft voice. That was nightmarish!
