Always interesting to hear your perspective. I see there are definitely some perks for the crew without the pax, but it must also be so odd, because so much of the ship is just unused. Are they going to vaccinate ALL crew? Are they not flying crew home at this point, is everyone repatriated by ship at the moment? With so much of the ships being unoccupied, are there staff going through to keep plumbing and valves operating so there isn’t mayhem when passengers come back ? I’m afraid the most operationally challenging days are ahead for all the seafarers, as ship Resume their full operating rhythms. 🙏🏼❤️

Those sunsets at sea are one of the many reasons I love crusing! hopefully someware In the distant feature I'll get back on board again. Hope you and your crew are doing ok I concer with your comments about being privileged to be employed through out covid19 I am a hotel employee in Brisbane Australia and am Incredablly greatfull my hotel chain and hotel GM have been in the possition to keep me working through out- it hasn't been easy but im one of the lucky ones to have not needed to think where my money for my mortgage payments or bills was comming from. Many in my industry have not been so fortunate. And have had to draw out a portion of their retirement savings or (superannuation in Australia) just to keep food on the table and the lights on for their families where it's not been even something ive needed to contemplate doing. I'm also greatfull be be 2 weeks away from being fully covid19 vaccinated I've had Phyzer it will give me great piece of mind to have that out of the way. Having the standard of medical care I get her in Aus. Is something that maybe we take for granted . Hope u get home soon and that when u accept your next contract there are from dates for a restart to operations that sees you overseeing opperations with passengers again even if you can't sail at full capacity for a while. Thanks for your update. I am sure it is hard being on the sea for a long time without setting foot on land. I spent 12 months in a remote site (on land) without seeing family and friends. Happy Tuesday Alfie. Where does the time go? 100+ days already hey? (WOAH) Besides letting some seamen off there in Manilla. Did you take on items, like food etc., as well? And does anyone have to be on land, from the ship, to oversea the loading of those items? Or are you relying on the fine shore workers to load up your ship? I have thought of another question. Over on the Celebrity Edge. Her Captain, Kate, always brings her cat, named Bug, with her. Does Princess or P&O allow the Captains to bring on a smaller pet as well? Because I have to agree with you that after 100 days of not hearing a dog bark, a cat meow or a rooster crow. It's definitely got to be strange. And I was kind of hoping that you would have included a picture, or two, of the port area of Manilla. Can you see any of the city from the port? Keep staying safe out there to you and your ship mates.
@SameShipDifferentDay3 жыл бұрын
Hi Cory, yes we will be taking supplies and I'll be including footage of stores we took in Singapore ready for this ferry as well as Manila footage in the upcoming video. The only people we have had come onboard is the Pilot, the agent, immigration officials and we have 2 shoreside nurses to overseas our 10-day onboard quarantine process that is required to be done by disembarking crew. The loading is done by forklift form shoreside and then take onboard by ship's crew. The only ports you tend to see shoreside workers onboard for loading are American ports - which I think is a union thing, but probably won't be happening under the current circumstances. Regarding pets, it's a definite no. It's highly impractical, but as you say Celebrity seem to be more lenient for specific officers. Having said that, I'd love a ship dog.

Very good points Alfie which for those of us stuck on dry land can’t imagine. We recently got to cruise in Sydney Harbour, first time in 14 mths.....on the Manly Ferry! Sadly no foreigners to chat to. Also for you after spending so long at sea, when you step on land, will it be difficult to walk ? I have a little bit of the ‘sea legs’ problem after 2weeks.

He’s probably better off putting his _faith_ in science. The vaccines that are keeping more and more people safe, the science of ship building, the radios and other safety features. The phones available to almost everyone these days, even the soap he uses daily, all much more reliable than hoping the lord keeps him safe.
