I can guarantee you as an Austrian student of Archeology that Austria was inhabited way WAY before 400 BC. The oldest known traces of humans are from Repolust Cave and date back 300 000 years, which means Neanderthals. I didn't even know that PEZ, the snow globe, the croissant (kind of? 😅) and the sewing machine came from Austria. And the biggest ice cave worldwide? I was in there with my school one time, but that was new to me. Very interesting. Thanks, Sam! 👍

Hi! Google translate really wasn´t capable of translating it! Is it some kind of dialect? Do everyone in Austria speak german like that?
@Luzi-chan4 жыл бұрын
@@norawallberg1345 it is one of the many austrian dialects. and since almost everyone spells it differently its hard to translate. u would have to live in austria fir a few years to learn to understand the dialects. its like in the us. there also are many different dialects. the standard german was originally also just a dialect of many but that changed when martin Luther wrote the evangelical bible, he wrote it in his dialect. and it slowly turned into the german we know today
@norawallberg13454 жыл бұрын
@@Luzi-chan thank you! I see! Question: when being exposed to a certain dialect in Austria, is it easier to understand what is said by listening and harder if you're seeing sentences in the certain dialect written down? Also, the standard German as we know it today was from the beginning a dialect? May I ask, dialect in which language?
@Luzi-chan4 жыл бұрын
@Nora Wallberg it is easier to losten to. because its not that common to write down sentences in dialect. mostly the younger generations do that in chats like whatsapp, sms etc. thats why there are so many ways to write or say one word. in school we write exams and learn german in its standard form. thats also one reason why everyone spells it differently. the german language evolved out of many. and as u might know back than most people couldnt read and write. and martin Luther translated the binle from latin into his german dialect he wrote and spoke for all of his life. so his german version spread through all regions were german is spoken so people who could read german could read it and tell the stories of the bible to everyone. books with other dialcts are called "old german" "alt deutsch". i hope i answered your questions.

#102 Emperor Joseph of Habsburg-Lorraine introduced 1784 the economy coffin in Austria: The body was carried in the coffin to the gravesite where it would be dropped into the grave through folding doors on the base. The coffin would then be reused. His idea was on the one hand to make funerals more affordable to the poor by his decree to use only such coffins for all funerals, at the other hand he thought this method also to be more hygienic due to faster decomposition of the bodies. But due to massive protests he withdrew the order after only 6 months.
