One tiny nitpick. Chopsticks are mostly made of bamboos, which grows very fast and sprouts every year. So no need to worry that chopsticks is decreasing the density of rainforest. Okay, I just want to say this as well, pickled fish sauce is quite commonly used in the west as well, in fact, you can find it in almost every Chinese restaurant. And yes, it's a essential part of the recipe for many popular dishes, so you've been eating it without even knowing.

@Miguel tvid and the others who asked "have you" Yes I have been to China: I am 3rd generation Canadian who has vacationed extensively in USA, but in 2014 spent 1/2 a year traveling through China. My eyes were opened, all my life the western propaganda machine had me believing lies. Walking at night in the down town of major cities in China is safe while trying that in Atlanta or Phoenix, or Miami or Los Angeles is a life threatening experience. I've seen both. America thinks it's free because you can change the government. BUT GOVERNMENT WARS NEVER STOP because the elected officials answer only to corporations and CASH. In China they can't change the government but they are more free to change government policy. Like the policy that pulled 800 million people out of poverty. No American wants to have perpetual war and yet they do. No Chinese wants perpetual war so they don't. Who has more control. Who has more freedom? In China if you want policy changes you either organize a peaceful public display about what needs changing or join the Communist party to effect change from within. We in the west must stop being so hypocritical, changing our government changes nothing. The bombing and sanctions must go on, someone controls that but it sure isn't the voters. We in the west must start understanding that other systems work as well and perhaps better than ours. We meddle in the affairs of virtually every country in the world . Here is a list, that apparently now should have Venezuela added to it American intervention since the Second World War. (* indicates successful ouster of a government) China 1949 to early 1960s Albania 1949-53 East Germany 1950s Iran 1953 * Guatemala 1954 * Costa Rica mid-1950s Syria 1956-7 Egypt 1957 Indonesia 1957-8 British Guiana 1953-64 * Iraq 1963 * North Vietnam 1945-73 Cambodia 1955-70 * Laos 1958 *, 1959 *, 1960 * Ecuador 1960-63 * Congo 1960 * France 1965 Brazil 1962-64 * Dominican Republic 1963 * Cuba 1959 to present Bolivia 1964 * Indonesia 1965 * Ghana 1966 * Chile 1964-73 * Greece 1967 * Costa Rica 1970-71 Bolivia 1971 * Australia 1973-75 * Angola 1975, 1980s Zaire 1975 Portugal 1974-76 * Jamaica 1976-80 * Seychelles 1979-81 Chad 1981-82 * Grenada 1983 * South Yemen 1982-84 Suriname 1982-84 Fiji 1987 * Libya 1980s Nicaragua 1981-90 * Panama 1989 * Bulgaria 1990 * Albania 1991 * Iraq 1991 Afghanistan 1980s * Somalia 1993 Yugoslavia 1999-2000 * Ecuador 2000 * Afghanistan 2001 * Venezuela 2002 * Iraq 2003 * Haiti 2004 * Somalia 2007 to present Honduras 2009 * Libya 2011 * Syria 2012 Ukraine 2014 *

As a Chinese, I think there are some mistakes in this video. Created by a person of country not China, background far away from China, this video does not show accurate reality of China. There are many detailed information that western people don't know. I can't list all here for limited time and space. Also there are many other similar videos and materials showing China, most of them have problems, I don't wanna and can't point out these problems one by one. It seems that will waste too much time and have liittle effect to correct other peoples' mistakes.

@bgeniij7 жыл бұрын
Qiang is absolutely right. I am an exchange student in China, and I must say, it is definitely safer than the US. As long as you obey the law and generally use common sense, the police won't really pay attention to you. They might ask you for your passport, but that's it. And violent crime is almost nonexistent. You might get nervous when you walk down the street, as people will often stare at you, but that is just because most people don't see a lot of foreigners. You do need to worry about thieves if you leave your stuff unattended, but honestly, that is true in pretty much every country. The main thing you will need to watch out for is getting scammed, as since you are foreign, vendors will sometimes jack up the prices. This isn't because they don't like foreigners, they just know you don't know the normal price and they think you have more money. As a rule of thumb, don't pay much more than you would whereever you live. Overall, China is a very safe place. The problems the media portrays, while not necessarily false, are greatly exaggerated. You don't need to worry about police harassment or being thrown in jail for no reason. China isn't a police state. And as for violent crime, it is actually safer than most other places. Hope you have a great time!

Or any other form of social media to be on the "same page" with the west. How can you proparly communicate with the rest of the world, if your totalitarian goverment woun`t allow you ? @snowye93167 жыл бұрын
If you count starving to death caused by natural disasters mass muder I don't really get your logic, there was a 12 year natural disaster which caused crops to die through out the whole country, thats exactly why China developed GM rice so they can stop the starvation. Mao is not perfect and have done bad things, but he kick started scientific research, agricultrure and heavy/light industries for China, he also got rid of many ridiculous folk traditions, people respected him so much that even bandits refused to rob anything with his photo place on it, he was literally the only person that the public hailed "long live" to since the last emperor, and if you think everyone is brain washed I just have nothing to say, you don't get away with mass murder and have a whole country that basically worships you as a god. So please do more research before you say someone is bad or evil, change comes with sacrifice and sacrifice lead to negative news and reports and reporter will always exaggerate events to gain popularity. I have lived in the Western society long enough to know that mainly negative news of China gets through to the Western world, there are rarely any positive news if any. The law about the visiting elderlies did not pass in the supereme court so it's not in effect.

And in some regional myth, the death would haunt the person who wore red. LOL fact 66: QQ is not (at least mainly not) mail service, it's a IM that also provide many other services, basically a IM-based internet platform. RenRen(facebook-like) became obsolete since 2014, after Sina Weibo (Twitter-like) is widely used. Then WeChat (a product derived from QQ that combined IM with Twitter-like social features) took over to make Weibo obsolete now.

min 3.31 Macau was taken by the portuguese in 1887 ??? China offered Macau to the portuguese and Luso-Chinese trade relations were formally established in 1554 and Portugal soon after acquired a permanent lease for Macau in 1557, agreeing to pay 500 taels of silver as annual land rent. Portugal had at that time intense commerce with Japan and brought japanese silver to China, a metal China lacked By the way - China offered the trading post Macau to the Portuguese as a gratitude because the Portuguese had destroyed the pirates that had been assailing the south coast of China for decades

A series of political, economic and military missteps led to the KMT's defeat and its retreat to Taiwan (formerly "Formosa") in 1949, where it established an authoritarian one-party state continuing under Generalissimo/President Chiang Kai-shek. This state considered itself to be the continuing sole legitimate ruler of all of China, referring to the communist government or "regime" as illegitimate, a so-called "People's Republic of China" (PRC) declared in Beijing (Peking) by Mao Zedong in 1949, as "mainland China", "Communist China, or "Red China". The Republic of China was supported for many years - even decades - by many nations, especially the United States who established a 1954 Mutual Defense treaty. After political liberalization began in the late 1960s, the PRC was able - after a constant yearly campaign in the United Nations - to finally get approval in 1971 to take the seat for "China" in the General Assembly, and more importantly, be seated as one of the five permanent members of the Security Council. After recovering from this shock of rejection by its former allies and liberalization in the late 1970s from the Nationalist authoritarian government and following the death of Chiang Kai-shek, the Republic of China has transformed itself into a multiparty, representative democracy on Taiwan and given more representation to those native Taiwanese, whose ancestors predate the 1949 mainland evacuation.

Correction! Macau was under Portuguese rule for 400 years, not since 1887. China wanted to take Macau back by 1999 just because Chinese government did not want to bring this matter pass 2000. It has nothing to do with the 99-year lease like Hong Kong.

Antarctica is considered a country and continent however mainly inhabitable for humans.
@johndaniel13247 жыл бұрын
It is not considered a country, by the antarctic treaty signed in 1959 no government can lay claim to the continent of Antarctica, even so without said treaty, there would need to be a permanent population as well as a governing body and a constitution, not even to mention international recognition from the united nations security council. Also if you are going to say it does have a population, made up of scientists, then no, it does not, as the scientists do not remain there for the entirety of their lives, nor has anyone ever remained there for the entirety of their life.
@johndaniel13247 жыл бұрын
There are not any permanent residents of Antarctica, there is a fluctuating 1000-5000 temporary scientists that visit each year, but there is no permanent inhabitants, if you can provide proof that there is a permanent population I would gladly accept it, my source is mentalfloss.com/article/29708/11-cold-hard-facts-about-antarctica and www.coolantarctica.com/Antarctica%20fact%20file/science/can_you_live_in_antarctica.php
@johndaniel13247 жыл бұрын
It says within your article that there is no permanent population under the section labeled "Who lives in antarctica today, and nowhere within the article does it speak of a permanent population anywheres else, except for a permanent base, which is just a location in which habitants can live
