I have super dark hair with soft waves and dark brown almost black eyes. My veins look light purple but my skin all over my body is lighter than my face so it’s hard to determine what would actually suit me. I would love to go blonde because I want to have a drastic change, but I’m scared I won’t get the right tone.

I’m in the same boat as you. Your best bet is to do a balayage and bump your base by 1-2 levels max, or just do a root smudge if you go blonde all over. You will find that your hair pulls a LOT of warmth, so if you use an ashy blonde color, you’ll end up with neutral blonde instead of an actual ashy blonde tone (which will likely look better anyway). You may need to lift your brows by a shade or 2 by using 20 vol peroxide (no dye) for 30 mins. I highly recommend the methods mentioned above so when your new hair growth begins to show, it won’t look so stark in comparison to your new blonde hair. I must admit, it is truly a pain in the behind to keep blonde hair natural looking when you have very dark brown eyes and neutral skin undertone (I have both).

It would depend a lot on which color for *which* feature you're considering is best. I would bet that in general e.g makeup or clothing, red color variants with slight purple influence such as burgundy since those oppose the color green. For pastel shades, pink and lilac seem to be a match made in heaven for those who have more light, minty green eyes opposed to a warmer hazel brown. My personal preference in color is blue-green-yellow-orange and don't like reds, purples or pinks. My features are similar to yours, with wavy medium brown hair, brown-green "hazel" eyes and olive skin. I'm soon going full auburn brown hair with natural henna. I tried previously platinum blonde and I felt it made me look way too yellow, and somehow didn't make my hazel eyes seem as green as my natural brown hair did when looking at the whole picture... like my eyes and skin and hair were all shades of yellow instead of when I had my dark hair, my eyes were more evidently a brown and green combo. Hopefully the orange auburn shade for my hair does better justice to match and contrast the brown and green. Brown with orange tones is the closest to red I'll be going so hopefully it enhances the green and if not, the dark orange will still match the brown in my eyes.

so when it comes to makeup concealing to diminish the appearance of features, i understand. I don't understand how the opposite color on the color wheel and hair works, can someone please explain?

Every opposite color on the wheel is a complimentary color to each other. Like tomatoes usually lay on a something green to make them look fresh in the store so will red tones for example bring out the green in someone's eyes :) If you see an ad for tanning lotion there is often a " bronzy" woman and something blue in the background because it enhances the golden tones in the bronzer. So blue eyes could be enhanced by orange, but since not everyone wants orange highlights we might move closer to gold tones (similar to orange and yellow) The more direct opposite the colors are on the wheel the more contrast we get. But then again we have to look at the skin tone... If a person har cool undertones and blue eyes, gold would not be the best thing for her. Then we would go more ashy and we can create the contrast in different ways. For example with going lighter or darker. Dimension. Its actually the same as with makeup.. Like we neutralize blue eye rings with yello/orange.. Red with green etc :) Colors that are close to each other on the wheel will together create a softer look while the opposite will make each color stand out more. Great video :) :) how about very pale skin, light peachy/warm freckles, some pink'ish tones, blue/Grey eyes (depending on the light) and born with red hair that is now almost a strawberry blonde... I'm a hairdresser but I'm still confused about my own colors 😂 I tend to get the most compliments when my hair is either dark chocolate brown or wine red with darker roots. I have a hard time getting a cool blonde tone and usually end up with a color thats similar to my natural hair and that makes me look completely washed out. Like I've got the flu 😆 I really do want to find the perfect blonde color though, because I need to do my roots every 3 weeks to not look like I'm about to become bald where my original hair shows (its almost the same color as my skin) Funny how I can help others, but not myself. 😵 Maybe I'm just too impatient when it comes to the whole bleaching process over time. Oh and by the way, ashy tones tends to look "dirty" in my hair..Not to my skin, but they don't come out like they normally do in others. 😆 I guess I'm not meant to be blonde. 😜

I have blue purplish veins, so a cool undertone. I’m pale but not really pale, I don’t tan or burn much. I tan very rarely (only twice in my life have I had a significant tan).
