You dont need a trapdoor to squeeze in 1 block holes. You can use elytra to dive into those holes too. I used to do that when trapdoors did not squish you down (i think 1.12). make it easier by placing vines above the entrance to give you a bit more time to start gliding before you landed. It can be a bit janky because sometimes you'd be stuck and have to try again. I made some really elaborate tunnels between all my friend's houses and some kind of teleportation hub.

The hub used command blocks. And you pick the destination using an arrow on a frame. You can rotate the arrow all the way and it'll cycle through more destinations so i had more than 8 choices. I think i had something like 20-ish choices. You pick the one you want, then crouch to fall down this really cool looking tunnel that lit up as you fell until you reached the bottom where the teleporter would instantly port you to your tele of choice. I had too much fun with that one.

Sucks that so many mods and commands wouldnt work with newer versions. I can kinda understand mods not working on later versions but minecraft's vanilla command block would also break with later versions. Unforgivable. Just do what sql does and leave existing commands alone and make something like "new_command_real" instead of breaking "command"
