I am thinking of selling my Digitakt and buying a Blackbox for travelling. I play Indian classical music which uses odd time signatures often, so I would be using it to sequence Tabla. I am just curious why you don't simply change the step count to 10/15/20/25/30/35/40...etc. to sequence 5/4 timing? Or multiples of 3 for 3/4, 6/8, 12/8 etc? Or multiples of 7 for 7/4, 7/8? You get what I'm saying, what is the advantage of sequencing this way on the Blackbox?

Using the sequencer like you describe is separate from using the Pads for audio looping. But you are right on, you can easily adjust the sequencer lengths to achieve any time signature if you’re sequencing your sounds. I created this video as a follow-up alternative option for creating a click tracks for odd time audio looping.

You definitely should. There are some workflow changes but overall a huge improvement to an already great device.

This video is intended to show how you can use the sequencer to create an odd time loop which can be used at variables tempos to allow audio looping in odd time, which Blackbox can’t do natively. This all happens while the Blackbox thinks it is still in 4/4 time.
