@@BeatriceBerrut i agree with Thraikios, but i imagined a mass demonstration with placards and people chanting, left wing style, : The People Demand More Mahler! ;-) lucky its not come to that!

It is amazing how all the musical principles of Mahler composing style come out within this sophisticated piano rendition of Beatrice Berrut! We can almost literary experience the age of Mahler's Moderna, enter his artistic mindset and enjoy vibes of his time, unpredictable expressions in tempi, dynamics, chords and sudden exchanges of moods. Somehow such transformations of symphonic textures into pianistic ones present most of part lines in much more transparent way to us listeners, thus liberating us from density of colours and explosions of sensational orchestration effects, leaving us exposed to pure musical content.

Just listened to this again, 5 months later , more closely this time.....Mr. Mahler brings in so many feelings, and i hear so many traces of the earlier Romantics... you really capture the dance quality of the form, when not capturing the vocal singing quality when it sounds like a ballad.....you spread a lot of joy with your music you know...i was having a rough morning, reading about political stuff, and now i am ready to go out for a nice walk in the sun!

Mahler's harmonic structure, his chromaticism, is beautifully clarified in this piano version. Beatrice, like Franz Liszt, is enlarging the piano literature in the most interesting way.

It is a shame that Mahler wrote almost exclusively for orchestra. How wonderful it would have been if he had detested the orchestra and loved the piano -as I do - I don't think Chopin was a fan either. I love these transcriptions. Without them I would not listen to Mahler at all.
@BeatriceBerrut Жыл бұрын
You’re right, it is a pity he didn’t write for piano ! There is the first movement of his piano quartet, but I am not sure it gives us an idea of what his mature piano writing would have been 🤔 Btw, nice to read you enjoyed the transcription! With my best wishes, Beatrice

Tout à fait remarquable : une façon de revenir à la source des compositions de Mahler, hélas si banalisée par les interprétations orchestrales contemporaines qui les monumentalisent.
@BeatriceBerrut3 жыл бұрын
@hospitality55223 жыл бұрын
