For a person that has lots of earrings or other jewelry: I lined the bottom of a dresser drawer with styrofoam egg cartons (cut the top off) & use each little egg place for a piece of jewelry. I organized according to type & color. Some even have 2-3 pieces in them. I used the top of the carton to lay necklaces in & placed them over the others. Just open the drawer & select what you want. I got rid of 4 jewelry boxes & can actually find quickly what I want.

I use clothespins as bag clamps. Whether it’s freezer bags, cereal bags, catfood, chips, or coffee...it’s east to reopen and not a huge loss if tossed. I also use clothespins to clamp together letters and bills, especially when doing taxes..paper clips sometimes fall off.

I would like to add a tip to playing with LEGOS! I bought a hula hoop, allow kid to dump the LEGO box inside the hula hoop to then pick thru pieces without it being all over the floor. Then, when done playing, I use a dust pan to scoop up pieces to put back, carefully placing their latest priced piece ontop for next time, or to then easily pick out and show off.
@BlessedBaubles
@BlessedBaubles 3 жыл бұрын
I have a great idea too! When my kids were younger and we had Legos galore (well.. actually, I still here them all. Lol) We had a designated sheet, I'd spread it on the floor, then we'd do Legomania builds! When we were done, we'd snatch up all sides of the sheet, and hold them up until all the Legos fall onto the middle of the sheet, into a ball shape. Then we'd simply dump the Legos back into the container.

I bought a plastic tote, $1.00 regular plastic folders with pockets, medium sized binder clips and plain white labels. I lay the folders on their side, label them, then use the binder clips to hold them closed. Then I place them that way, on their side, open side up with tbe binder clip on top. The plastic folders last a long time. I use different colors for different categories. I then store the tote under my bed or in a closet, to keep it handy.

@triciahunt601

Also important because of all the pet food recalls lately! And airtight storage is best. I think the best storage for kibble is in the original bag placed in a Simple Human pet food container that looks a bit like one of that brand's trash cans. Their pet food containers are close to airtight, and have a scoop stored magnetically in the top of the lid. I "cheap out" with a lot of storage things, reusing cardboard boxes, etc,, but when it comes to pet food, kibble is not the healthiest choice to start with, and feeding stale kibble is just asking for trouble, so I did spend the extra money on safer storage for pet food. Bought it on sale, but it's a really good brand, so it wasn't a deep discount. Also when you pour the kibble out of the bag into a container, you are exposing each kibble to a lot of air. Again, very bad for beloved pets. As cute as those storage ideas are, health comes first. Plastic is not airtight, and at least on a microscopic level, does leach into the food, even the "food safe" plastics, even with solid food like kibble. And there is an outgassing issue....just because we can't smell it doesn't mean there is no problem.

A better idea for storing pet food is to use 2 containers: 1 that seals tight to keep out ants and moisture & the 2nd container is the one that you refill from the main container each week. You use this 2nd container to get their daily food from. This keeps the food fresher. Unlike opening a bag of food every day.

Using plastic drawers to store dog / cat food is not a good idea. The food containers should be storage tight. The pull out drawers allow for moisture buildup. Ants and other bugs will also be attracted to the kibble.

I really think the Command hooks factory must ship their duds to us here in Australia. So many of these vids recommend them for uses that would be laughable down here. Hang a mirror using them? Hang up, take bets on how long it stay up. Here we have frying pans defying gravity by being hung up using Command Hooks. It can’t be done in Australia! The other mystery is “Dawn Dishwashing liquid -the blue one” It’s used (colour specific) for a lot of craft activities. Dawn isn’t on sale in Oz, so I sit and wonder why the colour would be significant.

Am I the only one that noticed that several of these ideas would be unnecessary if only they would clear out the clutter?? I watched this b/c I live in a tiny house & always interested in getting more storage ideas. But, 20 pairs of shoes, 50 lipsticks, or 10 water bottles isn't an option. Finding new or multiple uses for what we already have on hand seems like the best tips to me; like the Kleenex box used for plastic (or trash?) bags. Love that idea. Now, where can I hang that..........?

Roslyn Bradley The table?! If so, thanks. But what I'm saying is, they don't tell you HOW to make the table into an ironing board. You can't just iron on any table, no matter what it's made of. You need layers of fabric that can collect steam without transferring it the table, and fabric that won't burn. You also need enough layers of each to make it affective. That's what I mean. :) hope that makes sense.

80% of the items displayed in each “organization tip” are clutter. If you get rid of them, the remaining 20% would not require any DIY to store. The reason why people surround themselves with over abundance of “things” (i.e. clutter) is because their hearts and minds are empty. Fill your hearts with love and your minds with knowledge, and all that clutter will never enter your home.

HI, some interesting ideas, but you idea 72 and 91 there is a big problem. There are 3 types of plastic readily used- PVC, PP and PET. Only two are safe for food or consumerables. That is PP and PET. Idea 72, is to put your dog and cat food into a drawer type unit that is routinely used for paper supplies and such. This is NOT SAFE FOR FOOD OR FOOD ITEMS. PVC is not safe for food, and those types of units are routinely made with PVC plastic. With that said, you could put in t plastic bag first, but the off gassing will probably go through. YOUR DOGS AND CATS CAN BECOME SICK LIKELY. It can be actually toxic. Number 91, talks about putting foods into plastic containers, the packaged foods are fine, but the onions, or potatoes, do not put in plastic that is PVC. I just thought you might want to know this.

I didn't know it was so common to buy frozen fries. What my family and I always did was chop up 1 or 2 nicely sized russet potatoes per person, fry then for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, then set them on a paper towel and salt them. Still haven't had better fries than home made ones.

Storing things on the inside of cabinet doors is great, til you need to shut the door. Some of the ideas will just force you to push stuff further back into the cabinet, losing that needed space. Just doesn't work with bulkier stuff.

8:25 that's IKEA. I recognise the flowerpots and hanging-system. That's an IKEA showroom. Also, nobody would decorate their walls with a bright-coloured red (and dirty after use) broom. This is illogical use of space.

That caught my eye also. There are mop/broom handle holders that can be attached to walls/doors so the dirty parts are hanging close to the floor at least.

Make one out of a coat closet, if possible. Buy a shelving unit and go to town.

If you can do without a coat closet, transition it to a pantry. Make or buy kits to make shelves, then use whatever tips you like for organizing. I had a carpenter build strong wooden shelves measured by height of my containers.
