103 - Another January 2025 Update ???

I installed the latest update yesterday. Within a couple hours after updating, I had issues editing the video I had been working on. Before the update, there was no issue. I had all the media clips downloaded beforehand, so I did not introduce anything new to my project. However, within an hour or so of the update, Power Director would freeze, the screen would go black for a minute and I would get error messages from Power Director suggesting it might be due to a media clip I was using. AMD graphics software also sent notices about a possible driver issue. AMD has never sent me a notice when I had problems after Power Director updates before( and I have had a few). I went back and installed the previous version, and there has not been another crash since (fingers crossed!). I will continue to use the version before the update until I finish my current video project. I will go back and try to re-install the latest update after that. Maybe a glitch occurred when the latest Power Director update was installed the first time? Anyway, this was my experience with the latest update. Also, thanks for all the information you provide in your videos, I enjoy them!

Without knowing and seeing all the details, here are my suggestions. I also have occasionally had minor issues with PD in that a particular project that I had been working on for some time would suddenly give problems when trying to preview it. Usually these were the kinds of projects that had lots of effects, music, and other things added to the video clips. I learned the easy solution was to save the project and restart PD. Magically everything worked fine after that. The second suggestion is that based on your notice from AMD about a driver issue, I would check to see if there might be an update to your graphics driver. It might just be a false notice because of some confusion being caused by PD at the time (see suggestion above about fixing that). HTH

Yes, you might have to, I'm getting tired of chasing after you. But what is DaVinci going to do when the rest of the world switches to H.265 10 bit 4:2:2? Do they seriously expect their users will be required to use Handbrake or Shutter Encoder just to make compatible imports? Not very professional. 😍
