I have a warded lock that wouldn't open for anything on my warded pick set (approx. 10 warded picks). I applied consistent tension to the shackle and I was able to move it up one notch at a time until the shackle released completely. Awesome tip! Thank you.

I saw a good video about the Master warded padlocks not long ago. It basically explained that there were a certain number of base keys that operate all of their warded locks. Well say 5. Once you get those 5 keys, you grind off all but the tip of the cuts in the key and PRESTO! Open any warded Master lock that uses that base key. It may have been Deviant. Or possibly LockPickingLawyer. I don't recall, ATM. Edit: so I see your going over the same security flaw. 👍

Given that there appear to be 5 (6?) of the warded lock picks, how do you know which to select if you don't know what the key looks like? For example, there's an old master lock (like the long, removable shackle version here) that I locked onto my sister's bed frame decades ago when I was a kid. I have zero idea if the key is even around. Given that time isn't an issue, I could try them sequentially and figure out which opens it, but that seems slow an inefficient. How do you go about selecting WHICH pick to try first?

I've ruined my last key for my ward lock because of you. Grinding down all the pins except for the outer one only snapped out the shackle a bit. Now I have no key. I suppose I should have ground down only one of the projections on each side I don't know. Now, how do I make a key that'll really work since I have none? It is a master lock without a number
@HelpfulLockPicker3 жыл бұрын
You can buy a set of warded lock picks cheaply and they have different designs. If you pull tension on the shackle and twist around you should hit the wire. Not all of them at at the bottom
@jamesforsee94993 жыл бұрын
@@HelpfulLockPicker actually, you're right. I made one earlier and did not realize that, as I did not listen to the entire video. My bad. I need not have ruined my key, but now I don't need one. That was my first Ward lock pick. Thank you.

Good explanation on how to get into then but a diagram or cutaway view would help explain how they work better.👍🏽 I still see these being sold and don't understand how such an old and poor security lock like this can still be marketed. Many other locks provide weather protection so that is easily overcome. It just does not make sense but cents maybe is the only reason. 😞🍺✌
@HelpfulLockPicker6 жыл бұрын
Don'z Lockz thank you for the kind words :-) I used to use one on my gym locker before I knew about locks. I bought it because it was the cheapest lock on the Shelf and it worked. I was perplexed by the key looking so strange but didn't think too much of it. I am not entirely sure of their purpose these days but they do keep honest people out and are cheap to use
@DonzLockz6 жыл бұрын
HelpfulLockPicker 🤤yikes...true, any lock in fact will keep an honest person out. I guess most people buy cheap so they will always sell to the uneducated to provided that false sense of security. So now you use a Abloy Protec 2? Lol. 🍺👍🏽

The main application of warded locks is small boxes such as jewellery boxes that just don’t have the space for a pin-and-tumbler or disc detainer core. Most of these have a little extra security from what I think of as a rotation pin.

@@HelpfulLockPicker I have a similar one. Not only is the actuator in the middle (it has a wide "tooth" on the key there), but it takes so much leverage that I don't think an average pick can take the tension without bending.
@viciousKev6 жыл бұрын
I wonder why they even put the additional teeth on the key in the first place. I cant see any purpose other than to deceive the customer into believing the lock to be more complex.

If I had the key with me to tell me it's a warded lock then I wouldn't need to pick it. Also lot's of other locks look like that. It could be a warded, a wafer, a dimple, or a disc detainer lock. Not only is this video unhelpful the way you leave long gaps in strange places in a sentence is really annoying. "Here we have a ............. Key that's been.................. filed down so it doesn't............. interfere with ............ those protrusions". It's so odd....
