Must be the most dramatic episode of the era. Gripping! And some brilliant acting all round - Margot Bryant excelled, as did Bernard Youens.

Wonderful acting, also a lovely view of the street from the corner shop and the camera pans along as the policeman walks along with the police dog, then it continues to pan along to the crowd gathered out the Rovers, the brick built outdoor set may not have been built to the size of real houses (note the bay windows aren't very wide), but it has always remained my favourite outdoor set, it looks as if it was built a while ago, it has that real 'lived in' look (no pun intended), and the gap in the row (with the park bench in the gap) makes the street more unique. Some superb acting from Margot Bryant (Minnie Caldwell), who was so opposite in reality to her street character!! and Bobby (Minnie's cat) "my Bobby" is a joy to, Margot Bryant was a great animal lover in real life and 'Bobby' is clearly happy being held by Margot Bryant. These are the days when soaps were wonderful programmes, loved soaps back then.

A very suspenseful and well acted episode - the American was very good and great to see another side to Minnie who shone. Wow - Belfast gets a mention too. Bobby must be the most placid well behaved cat in history.

The late Shane Rimmer will always be remembered as the voice of Scott Tracy in the original Thunderbirds. He also appeared in 3 James Bond films, one of those was 'You Only Live Twice'. This was writer John Finch' final credited episode. He would go on to created the forgotten TV dramas, 'A Family At War' and 'Sam'.

I was shocked to read about the characters of Stan and Hilda today on Google, it says their kids were taken off them by social services because Stan was violent!
@gilliangrant8764
@gilliangrant8764 3 жыл бұрын
I've read this several times as well, and in all honesty I find it so hard to swallow. Stan comes across as the least violent man on the street, especially towards women. And they do talk to Irma about her childhood a lot, so I'm wondering if someone just made this up as a background story rather than it being in any of the scripts. I also read that they had 4 kids, but Irma and Trevor are the only ones ever mentioned from this time onwards. Although I do remember some time in the 60s Hilda was talking about her Freda working in the pub, but Corrie does that a lot with changing the names of characters who didn't feature regularly. An example of it is Ivy Tilsley who had a husband called Jack, but when they became regular cast members her husband was called Bert.
