50/50 chance sure, but also even millimeters that close you can hear the sound before the foot is seen touching if that’s what you’re trained and work hard for. Ump showed no doubt as he knew he made the right call. Still immensely impressive. Probably actually works hard at being a good ump unlike some of these guys.

@@97Retrogamenerdi mean, by that definition everything other than a fastball is offspeed lol. Generally speaking "off speed" means a change up of some kind. Nobody actually considers a 2 seamer/sinker an off speed pitch even if it technically is slower than their 4 seamer You have fastballs (4 seam, 2 seam/sinker, cutter, splitter) breaking balls (curve, slider, forkball screwball etc) and offspeed (the various different change ups. Circle, vulcan, split change, straight change etc)

@@fr2ncm9 I understand where you’re coming from, but honestly Joyce’s genetics (6’5 225lbs) and his windup both actually help his arm generate velocity while maintaining strain on that elbow, his compact delivery helps with his elbow not having to extend so far out to throw his pitch.
