Thanks for the video. I wasn't quite sure that my instincts were correct. I know how our Soul was damaged and suspected a bearing and/or a CV axle was the cause of the exact droning, rhythmic sound coming from the front right area of the vehicle. I say I was a bit unsure because CV axles usually produce a clicking, grinding noise. What you described is exactly the same noise that I've encountered here on our Kia Soul. I'm just about your age and have been wrenching most of my life on and off. Like you I have also encountered some severe health issues (I've actually died on half a dozen occasions) and I, therefore, tend to second guess myself now when I shouldn't. I must remember that the information is still inside my head. Thanks again for reminding me that we're not done yet. 😉👍

Mine actually turned out to be the differential bearings in the transmission. I did not feel like rebuilding it so I just bought a low mileage used one and that solved all the noise issues.

@@PoorMansDIY you bought a new (used) transmission or just the bearings? Now I'm starting to doubt myself again.

@@michaellinner7772 I said I bought a low mileage used transmission.

@@michaellinner7772 I bought a used low mileage transmission for $657.58 from Automotix shipped. I had just rebuilt my 46RE transmission in my truck and just did not feel like doing it on the Kia at that time. My Soul had 132000+ on it at the time and the one I bought came out of a rear ended totaled Soul with only 34000 miles on it. I still have the original transmission that I could rebuild if I felt like it. I have the full manual on the car so I guess I could look at how it comes apart. If we’re you, I would first pull the cv axles out of the front wheel hubs and check the front bearings. You can then spin and feel the cv joints to see if there is any play or rough feeling. If so then replace them. I would replace them anyway as they are not that much from RockAuto. Then if you decide to replace the trans check on Automotix. They give you good info about the donor trans and the vin number of the car it came from. Let me know if you need any more info.

First off if you have not done so get a CTA Tools 1040 CV Joint Puller Adapter with Wide Opening> It will save you a lot of time. amzn.to/30fjvu7 From what I can find, the answer is "No" they are not interchangeable. It has nothing to do year difference of engine size. It is that one is automatic and one is standard.

Only one side the kia soul has axle?
@PoorMansDIY Жыл бұрын
Axles are on both driver and passenger side. Do you think it is only one wheel drive?
