Just goes to show that the speed stats difference in horses doesn’t matter too much in this game. I remember back in single player when I was completing horseman challenge 9, I did it as Arthur so I had to go through the Pinkertons in southern west Elizabeth leading to blackwater. The horse I used was the raven black shire. Sure it took 4 tries because I kept crashing into trees and off cliffs, but the 4th try I was able to complete the challenge with the shire horse. From that day onward, I never complained about the shires speed cuz it’s not much different from say, a fox Trotter or an Arabian. So yeah, long live shire horses.

Acceleration seems to make a difference when taking multiple turns in very quick succession. Not as scientific as cat here, but I took my Turkoman and Arabian on rides around valentine (duck in and out of the space between buildings and doing loops); it SEEMS like the Arabian is significantly better at getting up to that full gallop after taking a tight corner. This is, however, incredibly niche and context specific riding. Use the horse that makes you feel happy.
@politecat9207 Жыл бұрын
This also comes from the handling, Turks have standard and Arabians have elite, so Arabians have an easier time with tights curves and fast turns.
@DystrophicEvolution7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I've noticed that I like the elite handling better than race, standard, or heavy. I can barrel through St. Denis on the Arabian with ease avoiding jaywalkers and carriages, but the Roadster (for example) with the exact speed and acceleration stats as the Arabian for testing, feels heavy and just doesn't have the nimble agility. Also, the Roadster just doesn't 'feel' as fast. Off topic... as far as people still thinking some special AI program affects each horse... nah. I've been bucked off all 5 different breeds I've purchased from Elite, Race, and Standard. Which is why I keep so many horses because I get so pissed when they throw me off to cats and grizzlies that I call in a replacement horse until I forgive my favorite. I actually got rid of my first Arabian thinking it was a completely sketchy f-wad and got so angry enough to ditch it, but found they're all the same because ALL the horses thereafter had the same annoying traits, so recently got another Arabian (the same by all accounts).

Try the following: Get into the swamp when alligator hunting, shoot one while there are still others nearby and see what happens. Shire: Remains where it is, unless you parked it VERY close to an alligator. Criollo - will go nuts and run away. For me it doesn't matter what happens when I am on the horse - it matters what happens when I get OFF the horse to get the skin and put it back on my horse or run through the swamp trying to find a spot where the blasted horse will approach me so I can put the skin on.

I think handling is more important in situations where you are taking tight turns and maybe urban enviroments and denser forests or fights on horseback, i think that is where the elite handling might shine. @sevnsinnz64684 жыл бұрын
No, it does indeed matter.Testing the horses with the same saddle setup is the only way to see the difference. There is a definitive difference between the two horses as far as speed is concerned. If you test them both at the same speed rank (6) of course they are going to have identical performances for speed. The Arabian is clearly faster when given the better saddle setup that the Shire had. Edit- It's hard to see the difference in handling when you are just running along the road, it shows up when traveling offroad and climbing/descending inclines of various heights.

Most people i known own a throrough breed, mostly the Brindle. That's are horse i try out in story / online and i never end up like it. This is why i often say "it depends on what u want in a horse" if someone ask me for a recomandation on horsebreeds. Every Person is different in Playstyle and everyone need/ want different attributes to their Horse. That's totally fine but for everyone who think of getting a Horse in Online mode for Gold bars- get the cheaper for dollar first and max the bonding, u will see if u gonna like it and then your Gold bar's aren't wasted ♥

I don’t like the test very much, because it is practically not relevant. - Have a friend ride one horse with 1s/3s/5s/ advantage and try to catch up! Can you catch up at all? How long does it take? And for the calmness of a horse: start a bounty mission and see what it does during a shootout. Does it run away? Will it come when you call it with a bounty in one hand and shooting a revolver from the other hand?

I have a dutch warmblood because i like how it looks. But i find i often swap back to my criollo or the norfolk roadster. That they are slightly faster does not matter. Yeah man, at 9 horses now I can basically say with full confidence that buying horses for stats is pointless. I don't use my Arabian or Criolo because I don't like them. But I use my Mustang, Kentucky Saddler, and Thoroughbred more than the other 6 horses combined. I wish I had just bought horses I liked from the start. Health and acceleration are the only stats that have any impact on gameplay at the end of the day. Acceleration does impact how quickly your horse will recover to full speed after sharp turns etc. so it can be nice to have a few extra bars, and higher health means that your horse may actually survive falls that others may die from... that's pretty much it though. Another player can just shoot your horse in the head and insta-kill it regardless of health, and you can use horse meds to reinforce their health bar for PvE encounters. I understand the reasoning behind basically making all the horses the same speed. It makes sense from a game design perspective, and I honestly appreciate that I can use things like the Chestnut Pinto Kentucky Saddler, whose coat I actually love, and keep up with MFTs, Turks, Arabians, Criolos, Bretons, Norfolks, Klads, etc. But it is kind of a shame that they handled horses the way they did for online. I wish they had something other than looks to differentiate them.

You actually can ride across the map without running out of stam, just hold g for PC, or pressing down on the right stick for console to keep hushing/calming horse and you'll get infinite stamina regain plus make sure you have max stam for your player too because that also effects the horses speed.
@ArionEquus4 жыл бұрын
The main difference between horse's temperament in regards to throwing you off. Is how long you can wait before calming your horse, or how quickly the horse will calm down on it's own. You can see this easily by doing a shooting test. Stand your horse nearby, and shoot over top of it or nearby. Then time how long it takes for the horse to return to calm on its own. Some horse's are clearly quicker to calm than others.

Handling is just sensitivity to turning. Heavy horses take a while to turn or change directions and such. It doesn't really affect speed, it affects the acceleration *slightly* because elite can accelerate faster while turning. Whereas a heavy would need to be almost fully out of the turn to accelerate

Agreed @bulby808. Just knowing you’re looking for “horn” on the customizing list is the first step. Funny enough, one of the cheapest ones, the dally, that’s a leather one with the white straps wrapped around it, is the most realistic one on the list. Irl, ropers will wrap their horn with rubber straps so it grips the tied off end of their rope. If you want realistic, go for that one, if not, there’s PLENTY different styles to choose from. 👍🏻 Of course, since I’m probably 7-8 months after the fact, I’m going to assume my answer is a big duh. 😁

You didn’t mention the horses’ health stat. Some horses (turkoman, mustang, gypsy cob, Ardennes) will get a full health circle at level 4 bonding and most others (Arabian, thoroughbred, etc.) will only have a partial circle at best. That’s probably the only horse stat that actually makes a difference.
@politecat9207 Жыл бұрын
I find that the most important horse stat is health (also only if you are a horse riding combat kind of player), the rest is whatever since the best saddle takes care of the stamina and speed/acceleration don't make such a huge difference.

I would argue that handling matters, when you have to make quick direction changes a lot like in the collector events, where you are in the woods chasing collectibles. I had a little bit more success with the arabian because it accelerates a bit faster when you stop and go and takes my contols a bit faster than the other „bigger“ horses from my feeling. In the end saddles make the real difference and the arabian is not a must have but a nice collectible.

Yeah I agree the handling and acceleration are what makes me use the black Arabian more than any other horse.
@philipfigueroa60224 жыл бұрын
I have 9 horses and the fastest should be the Thourghbred but i like the Arabians acceleration ,but recently im using the Criollo since it looks like a Cow lol and it feels fast ,Shires feels too sluggish to me just like the Kladruber too sluggish feeling
@skateordiedev4 жыл бұрын
Philip Figueroa yeah I like the criollo too actually it’s kind of similar to the Arabian
@Christian-cz9bu4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it seems the Kladruber is really slow to respond, I have to hit jump way before an object, (and we tend to case a lot of objects) compared to the starter horse, with the Naca saddle on both.
@philipfigueroa60224 жыл бұрын
Well the no responding to vaulting seems like every horse suffers it my Criollo just loves being on the floor after going full speed trying to vault a fence 🤣🤣

I have to say, it's more fun having the only breed in the extra large category and towering over all others. That being said, with the right saddle and stirrups any horse is viable so go all in on your favorite looking one!

I agree the stats don't make that much difference on travel time and a good saddle and sturp makes any horse competitive. I have done well against Criollos Roadsters and Arabians on a grulo Mustang and the starter horse with a good saddle. Even won a few races. What I'm not sold on is that all horses have the same "temperament". I can't say what the algorithm is but some horses seem to tolerate certain conditions better. Any horse at a dead run has done as you say - kept going. The situations I refer to are calling a horse into a fight for an exit or calling back a spooked horse certain ones seem to quicker to respond (Andilusion). Also when walking standing or pinned between rock/trees/cliff some horses seem less likely to/ slower to buck and more willing to chase predators. In my experience I can't say it's a specific breed characteristic in the case of wild life. I've had varrience but some individual horses are just much better. My examples are: Kladruber the first was very quick to buck and if he came back when spooked would often buck me if I got on. Bug? Maybe . The second I would call average. If I calm create distance and run all good and will come to me in a gun fight for a getaway. Arabian (white) a breed often called spooky I trampled a panther with it then closley chased 2 cougars a few minutes later in another area of the map. Did not buck. I also did not calm much 2-3 times with the cougars. Once then charge the Panther. I would like to see an investigation into the bonding / training. I walk near alligators to start wolves as they come I create space and fight at distance dido on the others. I only actively seek alligators and "proximity train" I guess you could call it. Slowly I reduce space with others... I spend hours on this. Maybe I am training me not the horse but the distance shrinks to I can stand in the middle of a wolf ambush and pick them off. I can chase bears and cougars... I do seem to have varied results with horses that is not breed specific - Kladruber being a highlight. MFT and Mustang different again. Saddler did better than most of my horses and has the most hours logged on it - could this be a factor? I snipe npc enemies then do close range. NPCS I work least on

The only thing that kinda matters is health. I say this not because enemies might shoot and kill it but because the horse will die from 2 meter high falls. Like the nordfolk roadster might be pretty but I’m always using my horse reviver on him

So 2 packs of wolves, 2 black bears & a cougar that single clip. I still find it annoying that your horse gets scared by roadside snakes & black bears despite that these two types of animals don't come directly attacking you...

Nice analysis bro, while I agree with you on the part of buying the horse you like regardless of stats, I also tend to disagree with regards acceleration. Cus your analysis focused on top speed but acceleration during a bounty chase makes a whole load of difference when going after player bounties. Plus handling plays a major role when trying to maneuver shots taken towards your horse. But like I said earlier, lovely analysis and effort from you. Kudos bro. #myfavrussianyoutuber🤑

Been hesitant to buy the tiger mustang because it’s stats seemed low. I’m very glad to know it won’t be a detriment to my gameplay to ride the horse I want.

seems like the next test has to be a comparison between saddles... i think it doesn't matters that much at the end over all. only the stamina use counts and that's up to saddle and mostly stirrups. For the horse i like to have a high HP one for PVE and stupid crashes so i don't have to pick it up all day. also high Stamina helps if u want to swim to islands with your Horse and don't want to worry about drowning. a better handling is only good for slow speed turns but its sometimes nice to have. so my horse to go is the Turkoman atm, handles like a race horse and its overall pretty good, for saddles i go for the special once because optics and i don't think u feel a difference to nacauglyes. Your wifes knows whats best for u PvPCat^^

This is a great comparison. I read and watch KZbin videos claiming that the Norfolk Roadster is the best horse online but that is absolutely false. Speed, accceleration and handling as this video proves does not matter much in free roam whatsoever. No horse can outrun another horse outright they will always be neck and neck in a chase. There is only a few seconds difference. The best horse has health and better nerves in a firefight. That should be the only comparison when it comes to which is the better horse online. Nothing else matters. The Norfolk Roadster has weak health in comparison to other horses. It's definitely not the best horse. The only time I believe when the Speed and acceleration matter would be maybe in a race as those extra seconds would be the difference maker and yet it's all about the rider how he starts the race to get those extra seconds. I think the Breton or the Kladruber are the best horses online.

Not really true. My friend has the exact same horse as me but I had the 3 speed and acceleration bonus whereas he only had 1 speed and acceleration bonus on his saddle. There was a pretty massive difference in speed between us. The stats do matter.

I am only beginning at the game, but I ride the Red Chestnut Arabian while my friend is still on the Tenessee Walker that we get at the start and he always falls behind, I go much faster than him even with a bounty or a deer on my horse?!?!

I don’t even use the hooded stirrups anymore... I use the -40% or -35% drain rate ones because the hooded ones are too ugly... and I just calm the horse every now and then, a fully bonded horse will be fine with cheaper stirrups if you want something that looks nicer imo

Handling is for turning not long distance. Arabian will crush a shire in obstacle course where turning and accelerating becomes much more noticeable. Try running a route through San Denis or heavy forest in tall trees. The turning and acceleration becomes much more prevalent. Yes rider skill is a factor. You were testing long distance running, that's not what make Arabians great, it's the ability of the horse to cut, turn and accelerate that makes it superior. Temperament effects how far the horse will run when spooked, will effect how much gun fire before gets agitated. Its minor but there is an effect, Take a war horse, Turkomen, Breton vs an Arabian and shoot near them the Arabian is much more skittish.

Hello my neighbor comrade XD I'm gonna type down my suggestions and maybe It will be funny for some1 but just please read all the comment before u gonna criticise.I own 10 horses all with nakawaka saddles XD I'm swapping em all da time and I tested all of them in diff situations. First thing: I totally agree that same stats horses feel different, for example imo Norfolk roadster got best stats in the game speed wise but It really feels slower than criolo or arabian... Why? I don't fucking know XD second thing why smaller horses looks like to be faster than huge horses? It's pretty simple, let's take a 2 meters tall guy and 1.5 meter dude. When the first guy take a one step the second one need to take like two steps to walk with the same speed, he gonna move his legs faster and It will look like his moving with bigger speed than the 1st one. Same with horses arabian got small legs so it looks like It's a faster horse in the game. Is the elite handling gives smth? Well I noticed that after one of the December 2019 patch it makes a difference but is the difference huge? No. When I evade tris and obstacles with arabian it feels a bit more responsive but the downside is that when u ride with full speed on the part of the tree or small rock with arabian there's a big chance that u gonna crash. Don't get me wrong bcuz with taller horse u can do the same but imo chances to be bucked off are bit smaller, means sometimes taller horse gonna drive trough the obstacle but not always.Third thing the normal handling really feels different on different horses for example norfolk roadster got normal handling but feels much more clunky than for example criolo. Kladruber for example got less speed than acceleration and with normal handling feels responsive almost like arabian. I tested It in so many situations and I dun have a real explanation for that it just feels different. 4th and last thing the temperament of horse. Ye it means smth but what I noticed that longer ur using one horse the more brain fart it have XD when I'm playing one horse for few hours sometimes It not even let me to ride It like I wanna jump on him and he fuckin run away from me that's why having 2-3 horses is a nice thing. About getting spooky by horses well when the horse gonna buck you off when ur fighting predators it means that u dunno how to shoot. Ppl saying that arabian is so bad bcuz is so spooky, ye maybe it gets scared Lill faster but tell me who gonna ride like and imbecile around the predators instead of shooting em lol. About shooting scenarios ye when you leave arabian while shhoting to npc's he gonna run no matter what and after u will be forced to whistle him, for example breton will stay for a some time but when It get a shot gonna run away either bcuz All horses does.And trust me u can kill npc's while riding on any horse in the game and never get bucked off till your horse die by eating so many bullets ony downside of race horses to war horses in that case is arabian gonna make staernge sound and sometimes will be less responsive means u will try to turn It and It will take a second to response I call it a brain lag hahaha but it really doesn't mater if you shoot at least decent u can do bounty missions on arabian and kill all npc while riding It Its no fucking problem.Ok I bet 90% of ppl will not read till this sentence but anywyaz It's just my opinion but It really feels like a legit one. Sorry for my English and greetings from Poland!! Keep up a good work comrade cuz ur channel is really underrated. Cheers :)

i did ride the morgan, the mustang, the turkoman , the missouri foxtrot, and the black arabian...morgans are bad, the mustang i didnt like the stiffness, the turkoman was expensive but i dont like it, so left two: the missouri is fast, the arabian smooth and fast but would crash easily...and all are spooky..the Shire i dont like at all, reminds me of Skyrim...if you own a wagon is handy lol...

You are right at ca. 7:50 but only in the situation, if you go on riding your way. But if you want to hunt these wolves and if you stop riding and they are next to you, bounty horse will react bravely, an arabian horse will drop you down. So for me, its much more important, what the reaction of a hore in fight is. I will never cross the map. Never. But for testing you did a fantastic job! Thanks!
