The reason Cinderella's dress has gotten bluer and bluer over the years is because in one of the re-releases for the film, the producers wanted the VHS cover to have sparkles all over it, including on Cinderella's dress, but because of the lighter, silvery color, the sparkles blended right in. To counteract that, they added some blue into the dress to help them stand out, and marketing took the bluer design and ran with it ever since, adding more and more blue to it to what we see in the marketing today with almost no hint of the original color.

You got one detail wrong. It wasn't Dumbo that failed at the box office, it was Fantasia. Dumbo was actually a huge success at the time and it helped the studio to recover the money that was lost on Pinocchio and Fantasia. The fact they kept Dumbo under lower budget by having a simpler, cartoony style rather than the more realistic style like Snow White, Pinocchio, Fatasia and Bambi and that they used watercolored backgrounds rather than gausch or oil-based paint they did for the other movies (This cost saving technique was used in Chris Sander's and Dean De Bois' Lilo & Stitch when the post Renissance movies flopped).

Just so you know cels were never called "eels" They were called cels with a "C" because in the early days of animation the transparent sheets were made of celluloid. Actually, the whole changing-Cinderella's-castle-to-Elsa's-palace blunder was an April fools joke on the part of the Disney imagineers. When talking about the future plans for the castle, Ilene Woods (Disney spokesperson) said “We’re hoping for a year from today, that would make it April 1, 2016. April 1…get it? Oh, and one more thing. Did I mention that the bridge to Adventureland is for sale? I can get you a good deal on it if anyone is interested.”

Cinderella is my favorite Disney animated film, and probably my all-time favorite after Space Jam and Osmosis Jones. Finally! Someone mentions the Cinderella movie that featured Whitney Houston! I never was big into Cinderella as a kid, but I really enjoyed the 1997 version. It was magical, whimsical and not so, I guess goofy. The parts with the mice and the birds singing and Bippity Boppity Boo, was what turned me off about the animated film. (I'm not big on goofy songs, even when I was a kid.) That's what I liked about the old live action film. The songs were bearable and I loved settings. You can hate me all you want for me saying this. I don't hate the animated film. It's just simply not my cup of tea and I just prefer the live action remakes over it.
