Fresh garlic is a game changer. It's super affordable and elevates so many dishes with less added sodium then garlic salt. I have been loving your videos. Makes me wanna challenge myself to spend less on groceries.

I agree with your statement on the garlic. I just finished a dish with lots of fresh chopped garlic and it was so good! Sometimes I get a little lazy with the garlic salt. 😞 I'm so glad you are enjoying my videos. 😊I love doing these challenges because they help me put more in my savings. I could easily drop a couple hundred bucks a week on groceries. It adds up!

I think the only pain about garlic is chopping it 😂😂😂. I can't get myself to buy the pre minced garlic jar 😑 but I always get so annoyed when I have to chop the fresh ones though 😂😂😂. It's a double edged sword lol😅

If you need to save time in the morning, using leftover baked potatoes in your scrambles cuts cooking down to almost nothing! Plus, the flavor of the potatoes is better; the outside doesn’t have to get as fried in order to cook the center, which ends up being super soft and almost creamy. Just something to try. 🤩

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. Basically for me it was the shivers or tingles o would get when my grandma would brush my hair. Now people feel tingles or relaxed when they hear a soothing voice a, soft gesture, a sound. Check it out. There’s a million and they are all over KZbin. It’s very relaxing.

Thank you for sharing. I compared my prices to yours ( via Walmart online), and I came in 1.23 more-- some prices were a few cents less than yours, most the same. I live in Oregon, so thought our prices might be comparable, and as predicted most were. I couldn't find the ground turkey for the price you paid- but the eggs and the potatoes were less expensive than yours, so that helped offset the total a bit. Anyway- darn great video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you for your work.
@ArdentMichelle

It's interesting to hear the prices being compared. The Festive ground turkey rolls in my Walmart were in a separate freezer from the regular turkey, which is why I never discovered it before. You might have to ask where it's hidden. I also noticed that the online prices on a couple of the ingredients were slightly off from the in store prices. I think the actual prices were a little less though. Thanks so much for watching and for commenting on your experience!

I got a POUND of serrano green chiles for 1.29 at my local grocery in the clearance section which is a little over half a gallon. I flash froze them on a cookie sheet and put them in a freezer bag. I finely diced one and put it in tacos I made last night and it added the perfect amount of spice. :)

New subscriber! I keep a ziplock bag in the freezer and toss in veggie scraps (onion peels, carrot peels, mushroom stems, ends of tomatoes, zucchini ends, garlic peels, fresh herb stems, ect) and when the bag is full I throw everything frozen in a big pot, fill with water and let it boil and then have fresh FREE veggie stock! Could add chicken or beef bouillon for chicken or beef stock. It’s super easy and eliminates waste. Enjoying your videos!

Great video. My favorite morning scramble starts with frying potato peels in a little oil. They get super crispy and taste delicious. I add salt, pepper, garlic granules and dried marjoram. I then add eggs and any cooked veggie leftover such as mixed vegetables or some spinach salad. Great idea adding some water to the eggs. I like to make tomato soup with rice. I always save any leftover tomato juice or tomato scraps in the freezer. When it is time to make tomato soup, I chop the tomatoes to add to canned soup, rice and a sprinkle of dried onion and a little dried marjoram for some green. The ziti looks great. Thanks for your hard work.

You had some great ideas in this video. I especially liked the baked spaghetti dish with tomato and cheese. Im going to make that this weekend and I have some zucchini I will add to it as well. Looks so good. Thank you for sharing. Here's an example of something I like to do to maximize the use of potatoes. I scrub them really good before peeling and then peel them and I fry the potato peels and then sprinkle them with salt and any other seasonings I feel like using. They make a really tasty snack and they are like homemade potato chips. Then I dice up the potatoes and boil them and use them for casseroles or potato salads or even mashed potatoes. I keep the water from boiling the potatoes and use it for making bread. That potato water makes excellent bread and its great in cinnamon roll dough too :)

My favorite breakfast scramble right now is egg and cottage cheese scrambled together with hot sauce and black pepper for seasoning. I serve it with chopped tomato cucumber and some sliced avocado I think I might try it with some seasoned refried beans in the future. This is surprisingly tasty and quick. You had asked for ideas for. breakfast scrambles. Love the sun dried tomatoes idea. I did notice there was some lovely looking oil and tomato juice leftover in the glass dish you roasted the tomatoes in. That might be lovely to add to rice when you cook it. Just to add a little extra flavor.

Scrambled egg ideas. Since I'm lactose intolerant I can't do any of the usual. Instead, my "Magic" Rice recipe is taking leftover fried rice of any kind, adding a few vegetables, and heating them up; once hot I pour in the scrambled eggs stirring just enough to get them cooked. The other idea is using canned corned beef hash, extending it with up to half vegetables (onion, bell pepper, carrot shreds, frozen peas, etc), just before it gets crispy pouring the eggs -- it's great!

Hello, My favorite breakfast scramble is Tofu breakfast scramble, I use about one-forth of an onion diced,along with a little bit of red or green bell pepper or both. Then I put in whatever vegetable I have, shredded carrot or shredded zuchini or mushrooms ,I sautee that for a few minutes,then I add about a half a block of crumbled firm tofu and sautee that, I also add salt,pepper onion powder and a little bit of nutritional yeast.,I also put in just a tiny pinch of tumeric for a yellowish color. Finally I put in a little bit of frozen spinach for extra nutrition. It makes enough for 4 people. It is very delicious ,filling and very hearty. This video is awesome!!! All of the meals you made look very very delicious. xoxo

Awe... thanks for the complement. That sounds good, I'm gonna try it. Although, I'll have to substitute the tofu for eggs. I love nutritional yeast and absolutely love the idea of turmeric in the dish. And I love getting spinach in where I can. Thanks so much for this recipe. This is good video, I just stumbled on this channel. I'm definitely going to give this a try. Sometimes I get bored eating the same meals over and over again. A good scramble meal you could try is; combine some cooked ground turkey with pepper and onions...with the egg....cooked the ground turkey first along with the chopped onions and peppers, season for taste. Then add the eggs; stir the eggs until its cooked along with meat. This is one of my favorite ways to eat eggs, because plain scrambled eggs make me nauseous....I know that sounds weird, but...I love this dish....You can eat it for breakfast or dinner. I eat this as a post workout meal.💪🏾😀 Give it a try...you can even add some toasted bread as well, thanks for sharing

Melody, alternative discussions are great because it really shows how you can still have what you like while still budgeting... even if you have to up the budget by a couple of dollars (hey a $40 week is still pretty good right?) That's why these videos are so helpful. My substitution would have been to purchase a larger size of cheddar in lieu of skipping the cheese slices. If you do have a couple of extra dollars the best things to "bump up to the next size" would be the pastas, rice, potatoes or eggs... they're the items that will make your meals stretch the most.

I love breakfast scrambles and I get creative. It depends what I have on hand and any leftovers that I might have that needs to be used up. Onions, garlic, peppers, zucchini, eggplant, spinach, roasted or frozen cubed squash, mushrooms, black olives, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, leftover cooked vegetables, cheese.. any leftover meat or fish. I'll even do the same substituting some crumbled firm tofu for the eggs. Seasoning depends on what I feel like sometimes just a pinch of salt and pepper, sometimes a little turmeric, parsley, garlic powder, Mrs. Dash, Greek seasoning etc... I also save the peels and scraps from vegetables and bones from meat in freezer bags to later turn into broth. I'll make a big batch and freeze some for use later on. It doesn't cost extra since I ate the vegetables and meat and it gives the broth lots of flavor and nutrients since the peels are where most of the vitamins and such usually are
@ArdentMichelle

That's a great tip to keep the veggie scraps in the freezer for later use. Are you making your own roasted red peppers or are you buying the jarred ones? I love all the veggies you mentioned. I think I'll have to try some of these breakfast scrambles this weekend!

@@ArdentMichelle I haven't made roasted red peppers myself but I don't buy them too often since they can be pricy, I just get them when I have a little extra to spend. Though if you store them in a jar with a little oil I should think that the roasted peppers made by yourself should last a little longer or just roast as you need them. I tend to buy bags of frozen sliced bell peppers because usually it's cheaper for me to get them that way, but I definitely compare with any sale price for fresh peppers.

Great video. Thanks. You asked about breakfast options. My uncle was a merchant marine, and after WWII a lot of souvineers, furniture... and a recipe or two came back to the states from places in the Pacific. One breakfast he would make was "Japanese Breakfast." Basically fried rice. Just use leftover rice (or make some if need be), an egg or two, green onions, and a meat (he used cooked bacon). Chop and scramble it all together in a skillet and serve. So, good! Also, as I am older, my older relatives lived during the Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, and learned a lot of ways to save money. Oatmeal is one of the cheapest, healthiest foods you can eat. Personally, I love raw oats (preferably quick oats) as a cold cereal. Just serve in a bowl with milk and whatever you like on your cereal. I also discovered that I can just pour a little boiling water over raw quick oats in a bowl and they cook just like that. Malt-O-Meal or Cream of Wheat go a long way as you just use a couple of tablespoons for a pot. Add any toppings you prefer to either. Toast and .... is the easiest, quickest breakfast. Sit and write a list of everything you can eat on toast. Things you don't normally think of will be on that list when you need it. I can go on and on, but this is already too long. Keep up the great vids.

Other ingredient breakfast scrambles: I use diced peppers, onions, mushrooms, and sausage or crumbled bacon. We buy the bacon ends & pieces at walmart for a variety of dishes and we use parts of it for our dogs. Anyway, back to my scramble. I use the above mentioned list. I diced up the veggie's beforehand and store them in a container for easy grab in the mornings. Ii also add milk, buttermilk, or even homemade creme fraiche to my eggs for added fluffiness and flavor. You can add or subtract any ingredients above. I don't always have those veggies and do exclude one or more at times. I also add cheese on the top occasionally and just lid steam the cheese for meltiness. I HATE my eggs brown and get violently I'll if the eggs arent fully cooked. If you don't have that issue then you can add the cheese in anytime you want. Changing up cheese flavors are a good way to play with your eggs too. Oh! Spinach is good in them to.
