The game isn't about exploration, it's about sightseeing. All the planets have already been explored by alien races, and they all seem to have bases of some sort on them. All the creature races have already been named by them too.

I like the game so far. I have the pc version and haven't had any problems with it. I don't count a few minor framerate drops as a problem. Personally, I would call the game as it is a Beta version and not a full game. But the developers said, they are still working on the game. So it isn't fully finished yet and it will get better. The thing many peoples complain about seems to be, that the game doesn't really have a big story. Well guess what, the developers never said anything about a big story, or quests and the likes, so if you expected a game like Mass Effect with a bigger univers, you bought the wrong game, pal...

Caringan Coystopitum Not really, i haven't been following this game's development that closely. I was still dissapointed in how simple the mechanics seemed and how it reminded me of how it went down with Spore. Sure, Spore is a pretty decently sized game, but it isn't that deep in gameplay. In No Man's Sky, you're more sightseeing than exploring aswell, since the aliens inhabit every single system. Spore had planets that had barely anything on them, no outposts, no strange monoliths, no nothing, simmply a barren planet. And so far, i've not seen that in No Man's Sky, which is something i'd like to see.

Unpopular opinion: I actually really like this game. I mean, its not exactly exciting and amazing, but to me, that's not the point. I play three dollar indie games a lot, so maybe its just me, but I play this game to just explore. To scrap new information when I can, even if its not eventful. Of course there are faults and problems, but I play the game when I'm looking to just go, and keep going. I like that, and I'm glad they made the game the way they did. This game looks both really good and yet it falls short in some areas as well too, not really digging the way it looks overall. The textures on some of the aliens and creatures really rubs me the wrong way, and their animations aren't the best either. I would say you pretty much described it perfectly. Although I would say Star Wars meets Fallout meet Minecraft. The aspects of Minecraft are the extremely large space for traversal and the resource gathering. I own this game and have played it every day since it came out on PC.

NO NO NO There is no Fallout in this. There is no story, no deep character narratives, no lively cities with tonnes of sub plots and side quests. No real RPG system, just a few things you can upgrade. This is a procedurally generated mining and exploring game, you mine resources to upgrade your limited gear to visit distant planets to mine more resources to visit even more distant planets to mine resources. No building like mincraft and very limited enemies in the game. Anyone who tells you any differently is straight up lying.
