Loved this show as a kid, and have grown to appreciate it even much more, as an adult. Something I think is pretty cool, is how both Ren and Stimpy are both actors, and famous characters in their own universe, in spite of their adventures. They occasionally bent reality with this info as well. That was a really cool balance, and something not really done before in animation. I hope in the future Ren and Stimpy can at least get a Netflix special of some sort... Once can only hope.
@Natalie_Milana73 жыл бұрын
I feel like Ren and Stimpy inspired Disney animators to create Timon and Pumbaa for the Lion king. Since the company noticed how the show was very successful with the audience and they wanted to capitalize on their success. As a result, their characters became even more popular then the source material it's based on

Some of the music used in its episodes would later be used in SpongeBob SquarePants (1999). The theme song's title is "Dog Pound Hop". First aired on the exact day and year as Rugrats (1990) and Doug (1991). Billy West was the only voice actor to be in every episode. Stinky Wizzleteats is based on the real life actor, Burl Ives. Burl Ives was best known as a folk singer and the voice of the Snowman in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964).

There's a few more facts they could have added- such as fact 108- Stimpy being a genius ditz and inventor. Fact 109 Ren being both German and Mexican. Ren also has a bit of a soft spot for kids. As seen in- " Fake dad", "A visit to Anthony's", and "Ren needs help." Fact 110- Ren is a bit of a crybaby, and can be a bit timid. Fact 111- Ren loves to read romance novels. This is especially made apparent in the comics. Fact 112 They both love the crossdress. Fact 113- Ren is an implied fraternity member- note the fez hat. Fact 114- the timeline of the show in universe, is a mix between the 50's and 90's. However the timeline progresses from the 1950's to the early-mid 60's. This is noticable in later episodes. Fact 115- Spiderman guest cameoed in an issue of the R&S Stimpy, and faught alongside powered toast man. Fact 116 After the episode "Stimpys Fan Club", Nick supposedly recieved hundreds of letters from children, telling Ren they loved him too.

I just ordered the original 5 seasons on DVD. You could say I was one of those kids who got exposed to this show when it aired, and it was more entertaining as it was weird. Nickelodeon really hit its stride back then with cartoons that had different kinds of filters, even if they are animated in a weird way. Some were wholesome, some were crazy, and others that had comedy in so many different extremes. Even the live action shows, game shows, and skits really bordered on the absurd, and in some circumstances, quite frightening when written right, as though the human mind had so many layers that television seemed to be the gateway into seeing what was in another person's head.
