NARROW ESCAPE - our narrowboat life adventure. In this episode we set off on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from the once Yorkshire town of Barnoldswick, which is now a Lancashire town! We pass by the site of the now abandoned Rainhall Rock Branch Canal or Little Cut as it is known and soon reach Lower Park Marina. Salterforth is next and then the canal turns simply stunning, absolutely breathtaking and we drink it all in as we cruise towards Foulridge Tunnel. After the tunnel it’s a short cruise to Barrowfors which is our destination for the evening.
JOURNEY - BARNOLDSWICK to SALTERFORTH to FOULRIDGE to BARROWFORD
CANALS - LEEDS AND LIVERPOOL CANAL
We hope you'll SUBSCRIBE and support the channel and join us on our big adventure as we learn laugh and cry our way around the UK canal network. If you've ever wondered what life on the canals is like told without scripting or acting then we're sure you'll love what we video. It's authentic. It's real. It's told how it is with a bit of banter and occasional silliness thrown in for free!
We'll be sure to post new videos every week and look forward to taking you on our journey. See you on the next one!

Hey you two. Yeah, it sounds like she suffers very similarly. Antibiotics work but the doctors need to see the leg get pretty bad before they’ll prescribe them. We all know when it’s going there and will end up needing them but they don’t want to just dish the tablets out willy nilly which we do understand and appreciate. 👍

Elliott, I presume you’ve taken anti histamine tablets? My legs used to swell when I had football training going into the evening and the mozzies all came out for their dinner 😂 lovely, lovely scenery on your cruise. Thanks for sharing 👍

Hi ya love the gardens I'm such a nosey person love having a good gongoozle when I'm kayaking past. Beautiful 😍 scenery, spotted a Canadian by looks of it red paint peeling love to fix that. The tunnel view up the air intake was cooling gor you I bet with a bit of wet stuff too. I'm honoured to be mentioned as a mountain biking GOD but I did have a sticker on the bike stating that fact eh up must be true. RedEx my grandad swore by it, put a cap full into his fuel everything he filled up? I had the car off him in 1989 its engine was the only thing still running ok I rebuilt the car rusty as he'll butvthe engine was gutless not sure if it had any power before the redex lol was a hillman avenger 1500 super in racing green 1973... I had a hillman imp 1970 before that but got fed up replacing gear boxes as engine got removed each time, every mot was king pins renewal got fed up it being old an all that. Went fof the newer avenger lol. Not used redex ever again I googled the long term affect if used on car engines and I stopped using it. Anyway I'm falling asleep pool side been out in the sun visiting poros and skara on the island in a vw taigo nice car .. Leave it there beers later.. Thanks for remembering I like the Gardens lol😅😅😅😊❤ All the best rest that leg keep it elevated at night on a pillow. All the best kev that magnificent kayaker and a god at mountain ⛰️ biking😅

Hi Sue and Elliott. Elliott do you usually swell like that with bites? I think you should try and see a doctor or go to your local hospital before it becomes serious. Do you know what bit you Elliott?? All the best, hope your leg is better soon. Can’t have Sue running after you left right and centre!!😂❤❤❤

Hey Vicki - yes, sadly it’s an every year occurrence! It’s usually horsefly bites and 9 times out of 10 my body reacts like this. It’s always been the case. I remember being rushed to hospital when visiting Scotland as a kid on scout camp! I just react badly to the bites and they swell up, get super hot (cook an egg hot) and are rather unpleasant. As for Sue bless her, she’s used to it by now. We always try and have ice packs on hand in readiness for the summer 😫💪 Cheers E & S

Redex does come highly recommend with diesel motors. Good luck. We just put in some injector cleaner in our petrol car and we could hardly believe the difference and our car is not that old.

Sorry, I'm a bit late to your journey, but wanted to let you know that that big lump of architecture used to be a railway bridge, and tied in nicely to the boat named 'The Barlick Spud'. It was a short branch line into Barlick, and they used to be able to do a jacket potato in the time it took to get into the station, so the local train had the nickname The Barlick Spud. Thanks for making my hometown look so beautiful, and travelling on of my favourite walking spots! Hope your leg is much better 🤞🏻🤗

Hi there. We love it when local people to the places we spot message up and provide some local insight to things we saw on a walk around. So that’s the link to the Barlick Spud then - we’d never have put those things together 🤣🤣 We’re glad you enjoyed the video 😍👍

Hiya both a brightness to our week has appeared lovely. On the fuel tank it has been suggested that the fuel gets a "polish" which is a complete drain out and clean removing water and diesel bug as an option to take for a smokey engine so I have been told. Is that something you thought of perhaps? Alan off Narrow boat Venture came up with a good idea not to have to climb on bow to untie your bow rope he fixed two cleats on the gun whale which enables you to simple loop your rope around your bow cleate instead of tying on. It helps not falling in I guess . Hope your insect bite is getting better Elliot. Wishing you both safe travels take great care.

Hi David - thank you so much for that kind comment! We’re glad you enjoyed the video. Your comment about the diesel bug thing has set us off in a dark hole of internet research etc but THANK YOU very much for the suggestion because we do need to consider that as a potential problem/solution. LOVE your idea about the bow cleate, as with anything you would be welding to the hull we need to think carefully about it but that’s a superb idea and suggestion 👍 Thanks for the kind wishes on the bites. ❤️ E & S

You have been back in Lancashire for a while. Barnoldswick is in Lancashire but used to be in historic west riding of Yorkshire. they kept swapping for a while but its stuck now. I used to live in Sough back in the early sixtys , which is not far from Earby and a tad more from Barlick.

Sad news today, Wilko has gone into administration! You'd better get some more oil whilst you're able. Good to see you doing some DIY, shame it was on Capt Gary's vlog though! Better get the red rose flag out now you're in bandit country (we do like each other really) 🙂

We hadn’t realised that K until you mentioned it. Sad news indeed and another victim of the onslaught of Amazon!! Yeah, some DIY going on here. Tried to make a go of a DOY vlog this week but can’t seem to make something that we can be proud of. Ah OK cool. Yeah we had a good old natter and put the world to rights. They tried doubling up with a 60 foot boat and it wasn’t working so the 60 footer needed to go down the locks diagonally. Trouble was the other boat was brand spanking new and the driver only had her son with her who was new to boating so I helped them down the lock flight and switched their positions with Chugs mid flight. A few hours of my life I won’t get back but a good deed done and the minimum of damage done to the ladies brand new boat 👍Sue did comment though how little of the DIY project I had managed to do whilst she was put 🤣🤣

Oh John - we don’t take horsefly bites lightly because every year this happens at least once, often up to three times so we know the feel of the bite, what happens in the minutes thereafter and what to expect. Every year for as long as I can remember involves some antibiotics. It is what it is I suppose. As for your treatment I am going to take a brave pill as I wince and ask you…go on then, what does that entail 😱😱🤢🤢

@@NarrowEscape1 they strap a plastic box over the bite with an opening on your leg then through a door on the top of the box they insert 5 magits the magits then eat pussey flesh of your wound then after four days the magits are terning into flyes and they fly away but you wound is emaculate and can now be treated 😎😎😎

Hi Judith. Over the years I’ve tried and been prescribed all sorts of things. Unfortunately Piriton doesn’t touch it.
