Hi Onamission 83. Thanks for your message. Sounds like the monitor is looking for a VGA signal, but is not getting this signal. Some thoughts - Could there be any hardware issues with your computer? Are your drivers upto date? I assume the computer's not in hibernation, sleep or power saving mode? It'd be worth checking your graphics settings again? Have you tried restarting and reconnecting your devices? Do you have another port you could try on your computer? Thanks

I just purchased an hdmi to vga adapter. It didn't cost very much. I didn't know there was a "passive" adapter. I just looked at the one I bought and it doesn't say if it's passive. If they might not work ..why do they make them?

@@trainmaster0217 late reply, but active ones are powered and are physically converting the signal from HDMI to VGA. SOME devices are able to push a VGA signal out of the HDMI port, which is where passive(non powered) adapters are handy. The raspberry pi comes to mind as being able to use a passive adapter

I have an old Dell flat screen monitor (with very little use) that is 17" but not in the wide screen aspect ratio. (Actual width/height dimension of the screen is 13.5" X 11.75"....). Would this adapter still work with a non-wide screen? I would love to put it into use even if it there is a black unused area on the top and bottom on screen because of the aspect ratio disparity. Thanks for any input (no pun intended) that you can offer. Note: I also have a pair of high end NEC 19" CRT monitors. Not sure if that would work either...And, not sure I'd want those very large monitors chewing up a lot of space, but curious. Phil

Problem connecting LG FLatron W2243S - In trying to reduce my new resource consumption I bought a NUC10i3FNK and used it with my 20+ y/o periferals, so bought HDMI/VGA adapter which runs fine with my viewsonic VA1913w 18.5" screen, however I rather need a larger screen for what I'm doing so bought a 2nd Hand LG FLatron W2243S 21.5" screen. This works fine from the VGA output of my 10 y/o laptop, however has not response when connected throught the same HDMI/VGA adaptor that happily runs my viewsonic from the new NUC... Does anyone have a fix? It never shows any input, but seems to drop into some power supply energy saving mode - well that's the only thing I can persuade the screen to say - when I disconnect it to connect the Viewsonic to check there is a signal (which there is as viewsonic screen shows the output) it comes up with "check signal cable" and various coloured dots - so it' know's it's disconnected and has no input, but doensn't seem to recognise the input it does get when connect as worth displaying...!!! ARRRGH - any suggestions?! Is there some reason it drops straight into power saving with the HDMI converted signal and not with an original VGA signal??

The strangest thing.... I read that not all cables the same... so while brushing my teeth realise there is one more permutation I can try, swap the cable to the viewsonic monitor with the cable to the LG - both cables note are VGA/VGA, both work to my VGA laptop, HOWEVER it seems only one cable works from the VGA out port of the HDMI VGA adaptor to the screen.... i.e. I switched the cables and now my LG screen output works fine from NUC.... I find that v strange... As various threads say, not all cables are the same and that's post HDMI/VGA conversion...

Got the classic "out of range" issue, but found 2 fixes on different laptops. 1. (5-year-old 64-bit ASUS): Pressed Windows key +P, then chose "extend" (as you might do if connecting an old TV). Problem magically gone! 2. (3-year-old 64-bit HP): Plugging in made the laptop display flicker like crazy and fail to connect to the external monitor. Uninstalled Intel graphics driver, downloaded Intel Support and Assistance and used that to get an updated driver. Restart, and converter now working fine!

Hi LegendX Dêspair. I'm using a desktop PC currently which runs two monitors - 1920 x 1080 is my main monitor. I also have a much older Dell monitor (shown in video) so the resolution settings are much lower - they are set at 1600 x 900. So I believe that you should be able to scale to 720p (1280 x 720). Edit: I solved it by pluging the adaptor in the slot that goes into graphics card, i initally plugged it into the motherboard. Hi, i just got me an adaptor like this, connected to my new desktop pc, but it does not display anything on the scree. It does connect, since the message on the screen saying that there is no signal, is gone when i plug in the vga into the adapter, but it doesn't show anything on the screen. What should I do?

I own an adapter similar to the one from this video and is not compatible with my cable decoder, it shows a black screen and nothing else, however it does work with my ps3 and xbox 360, I already bought 2 adapters branded MINI they stopped working after a few weeks or a few months, is there a good quality option? by the way apparently my cable decoder is not fully compatible I have to disconnect and reconnect the decoder to get signal, otherwise I get a black screen with the message "out of range" from my monitor

Just buy a new monitor, these converters aren't reliable and will break easily or stop working, VGA ports weren't meant to reproduce HD(1080P).

There were lots of info in this video that people didn't really need to know or was relevant....you just wanted to keep people watching the video for longer and keep them on the video so that you can make money. politicians do something similar called filibustering just to pass time so I see what you did here. lots of nonsense with no substance. It would take me less than a minute to show people how to get the product to work with a minute or so review. keep things short and simple, specially if you're a details kind of man you should know how to get your point across and capture the audience.

How do you get these HDMI to VGA converters to initiate? All I get is blank screen and says no input. Bought several different makes and tried several different monitors still not working. Does not explain how to get image on screen in first place!!?!? What 'thing' do you have to do to 'initiate' the device. Video does not explain this? WHY??? Hi I work from home and have a new screen which I use, however I have an old monitor that I want use as well which is VGA. If I used the converter and a male to male VGA cable could I plug this into a splitter as the lap top has very limited ports. So the splitter would plug into the computer then the HDMI cable for the new monitor would plug into one side of the splitter and the converter would plug into the other side. Would this work?

Bit late but it could - I have the same resolution for my monitor and an adapter for it, and it’s worked decently for me so far. That said, you may need to change output resolutions for the HDMI device (initially I thought the monitor didn’t like the converter and my Pi/Laptop and I couldn’t reuse the monitor, until I found out how to change resolutions on both).

Also works with Chromecast, Nintendo Switch and Fire stick. Also use VGA to VIDEO adapter. That has special menu on that converter to stretch 16:9 aspect ratio horizontally to make it 4:3, as you want to watch 4:3 videos, stretch it with VGA to VIDEO horizontally to get rid of black bars on each side.

I would try this. 1. Unplug it. This means all of the connections. 2. Lift it up, roughly 8 to 10 inches from the desk. 3. Hover it with as little movement as possible over the circular, or square in some cases, trash receptor nestled up to the lower portion of your desk. 4. Release both hands simultaneously. 5. The next step is the most difficult, but I promise is a necessity. Open your tool box and take out the biggest wrench you have. Use that wrench to the best of your ability to pry open your wallet. Careful trying to avoid any stench that may escape seeing that it has been void of any fresh air for possibly 2 decades. Take money out and buy a real monitor. Hope this helps.

Isnt there 2 plugs at the back of the monitor? 1 for VGA and one for power supply. You still need the power supply cable and plug into an outlet to turn the monitor on if im not mistaken.

good morning sir...but if your laptop screen is broken and you want to connect your laptop to your computer monitor but it doest have hdmi as your laptop so i was wondering if i should buy hdmi to avg adpter?..like will my screen on my laptop shows on my monitor screen?

I have an old Dell VGA monitor and a VGA > HDMI converter / dongle. My gaming PC has TWO HDMI ports, one on the GPU and the other on the MOBO Im guessing. The one on the Mobo doesnt seem to work. I have update my MOBO BIOS but it still wont work. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much. Really liked the Extended portion of your video. I bought an vga to HDMI a few years back. Did not know there was a difference. I have a HDMI connection on my pc, and vga, dvi and display port on my Dell monitor. Plugged in the vga to HDMI and nothing. Yes, I ordered two HDMI to VGA converters. They're on the way. I found out yesterday that Walmart sells the converters for $16 and change. Since I have two on the way, I'll wait.

Hi all yesterday bought such cable. NO VIDEO INPUT the monitor doesn't get the signal... Any advice?? I uninistalled and reisntalled drivers for video card, restarted a few times but still didn't work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance
