Leland, you have provided all of us an entry into a world that most NEVER et to experience. Having worked for Bill Graham back in the past, I've been lucky enough to have seen some of this first hand. But what you've given us this summer is something that is so much more. And this episode seeing Lyle as "Lyle the person" as opposed to Lyle the music star is even more special. In the time since your first episodes we have ALL been privileged to get to know a new friend and to have traveled with you on such a wide range of adventures. I can only look forward to even more of these adventures. THANK YOU for having shared this with all of us!

@patlatorres70002 жыл бұрын
@@lastnamefirst4035 Mostly security and guest services, but a little work on the production side (mostly after we lost Bill). Learning at the feet of THE MASTER was something special. The promoters today ONLY care about bringing in the money, NOT about the product being provided to the public!

Ditto ditto ditto. Leland. You. Are The most special man. I got to know your talents working with PC & consider you & Daryl “home slices” fellow Mwaukeeans 😉😘 I grew up to have opps to play with Prince, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Don Cherry, Ernie Watts, Muddy Waters, Julius Hemphill, Douglas Ewart, & all the hardcore Chicago jazzers, Sinatra, Bobby Vinton, Barry Manilow, Tom Jones, Edie Gourmet, a few opera greats & many many other front liners. I pray someday we’ll work together before you go inter planetary my friend. Love,💯🕯♥️PamelaB

Nice conversation! I met Lyle a bunch of years ago at the Pro Italia motorcycle shop in Glendale, CA. I w as having some work done on my bike and Lyle had a custom bike built for him that was getting some tweaks finalized. I walked into the lounge/waiting room and Lyle was in there, waiting. He reached out his hand and said," Hi...I'm Lyle Lovett." I said, "Hi! For a motorcycle rider, you're a pretty good songwriter!" We ended up chatting, mostly about motorcycles, for a good long while. What a great guy!

Leland: I did not touch an instrument, sing a single note, help prepare the stage, drive a bus or truck but I enjoyed every single venue. You let us explore every venue with you and interact with your fellow musicians and crew to the point that I am going to have to deal with tour withdrawal. What a blessing these people have been this summer. My many thanks to all involved with Lyle's Large Band 2022 tour.

I first met Lyle in ‘87 when he was touring as a solo act with Bonnie Raitt. Been a fan ever since. I became an instant Leland fan from his intro on “Doctor My Eyes” on. I didn’t know that was him at the time, I just knew it was cool as hell.

In 1976 I saw the Grateful Dead nine times in twelve days on their Bicentennial Tour. What struck me afterwards was how the tour had arcs just like the shows. It was so great to be able to extend the roller coaster ride of their individual shows into the larger frame of the ongoing tour and feel the changes in dynamics as the days progressed. One of the greatest experiences of my life.

Thanks Leland for this interview! As its so true! Improvisation, dynamics and subtlety plays a massive part in the construct of a song played live! And to play the song note for note exact every night would drive you bonkners! I have had to leave bands in the past for playing different each night and then I would be made to feel bad for playing different, only to find out later it was ecause other members didn't know how to improvise! I wish they could see this!
