Grew up as a dependent of a forty year veteran of the NJ ANG. My father joined at Newark airport in 1948, enlisted. Then in 1960 went to the 177th. He went to rank of CMSgt then in 1966 he received his commission as maintenance officer. Activated to Myrtle Beach after the Pueblo was captured by North Korea. He was Commander of maintenance at 177, then transferred to 108th as same. I joined NJ ANG in 1973 sworn in by my father and eventually he swore me in as an officer in the 170th. I only went to rank of Msgt and Lt, but it was the best 23 years of my life. Collecting retirement now. Good luck to all who serve and will serve and their families. Dad retired 7 Sept 1988, he went to the rank of full Colonel. He passed on April 4 2016.
