This was one podcast that was needed for me! Being a new Muslim one thing that I have been searching for were proper investments and Halal ways to handle money. This podcast summed up major points and more. Thank you for your podcast and for this guest! Alhamdulillah.

Love this podcast! Sheikh Navaid makes finance so easy to understand. Also something interesting about what he said regarding parents and parenthood. I actually posed a question this morning to my husband about a mother's du'a and the Sheikh answered it perfectly. MashaAllah. May both of you be blessed with all that is good here and in the hereafter and increase your rizq so that you can help more people especially the Muslim ummah.

I find the breakdown of concepts like Riba and the structure of Islamic finance particularly interesting. The contrast between debt-driven Western financial systems and the Islamic emphasis on generosity over profit reveals a deep ethical difference. And the 2008 crash being cited as a result of a flawed, debt-based system-there’s a compelling argument here about the potential resilience of Sharia-compliant finance. The idea that Islamic finance doesn’t just aim to “avoid interest” but actually promotes ethical and community-focused wealth-building is something that could resonate well beyond the Muslim community. It’s also eye-opening to see the philosophical approach to wealth and debt in Islam, like viewing debt with caution or seeing charity as a path to blessing rather than loss. This isn’t just a list of rules; it’s an invitation to reconsider our relationship with money, and that’s a refreshing shift in financial advice.

Alhamdulilah a much needed podcast and one of the reasons that I do the content that I do. I find that as Muslims we think that it is wrong to want wealth and strive to be financially secure, not realizing that this is not the case. I even find that some think you are more pious the more poor that you are. This is not from our deen and shows like this help to educate the ummah on finances. May Allah reward you and your team. I think Muslim based towns should be the stepping stone for proving a sustainable social model and alhamdulilah the money is all across the country, we should spread that inspiration to reach bigger foundations and organizations that can make a change in our failing society in the US.

Zakath is not determined by the amount of money in hand. Nor by dollars or any currency. It is determined by the minimum quntity of gold called nisab Thus any muslim is obliged to pay zakath if the nisab is exceeded on his entire saving which. Is more than one year.

I think a mistaken analogy was made around 47:05. Animals do die of hunger in their natural habitats. Predators compete for food. When food sources become scarce, those who cannot compete for food (or their offspring) die off.

Assalamu alaikum, all the videos/lectures that I’ve seen on this subject only talk about individual transactions, such as individual buying a home. How do these models apply on a commercial scale? For example, a builder wants to build an apartment complex that will cost several million dollars. It would be hard to find one partner that can take this on, having multiple partners would be unwieldy. Would appreciate it if someone could address this issue

Fiat currency is objectively haram. It’s only “halal” by necessity because we have no choice but to use it. But fiat currency is a derivative of treasury bills. So therefore, treasury bills, like fiat, are “halal” by necessity. It’s nonsensical to say one is halal and the other is haram when they are literally the exact same asset,fiat is simply a derivative of treasury bills

Loved the podcast until sh Navaid started talking about the Islamic mortgage system, it goes against all Islamic principles. The rent for the 80% of the home that you don’t yet own is literally just interest, and it is major exploitation for the tenant of the home. At least banks give you ownership of the home straight away! The other “Islamic” method is worse, the home is worth 400,000 and is being sold for 500,000 with no effort being put into bettering the home, and you’re profiting off of naive Muslims who are trying not to get into riba. This is such a shame. As bad as banks are, this is much worse, please don’t call it Islamic, and the “sheikhs” who approve this clearly don’t think it through. It’s like someone buying a banana for $1 dollar, then selling it for $5 dollars because everyone else is selling it for $1.5 dollars (with $0.5 interest) and the $5 dollar guy is living his best life because those that don’t have $1 dollar to spend are now paying $5 to avoid interest!! Does that make any sense? Or the other way is if I have $0.2 then I can only eat 20% of the banana AND PAY RENT (which can be any amount the creditor wants it to be, oh yeah and what happens when rent isn’t paid lol?) for the remaining 80% of the banana - ON TOP of paying for ownership of the other 80%? Have Muslims become stupid? This is exploitation

Glad you said this. Also the car leasing structure doesn’t sound very Islamic to me.. I think everyone should do their own research regards these points made by the sheikh and be honest in their research…

Way to come down on all Islamic institutions trying to make an alternative financial solution in the world based on Islamic principles. Should we not work to invest in our own Islamic institutions and solutions already given to us by the shariah? Are we so desperate to save some money and give up our akhira in this way? Subhanallah. The sheikh gave examples off the top of his head and was not referencing any contract he had in front of him. Contact UIF and Guidance Residential and ask them these questions, they receive them likely every day for almost a decade now I assume because Muslims are concerned why they need to pay 100$ more a month compared to the rate they’re getting from a riba based system 🤔🤯 Why continue to invest in a Western system when others are trying to help create an alternative for our children and grandchildren?
@owaisbukhari52632 ай бұрын
@@3affaf Giving Arabic names to systems that are mimicking the western banking system, making the rich richer and the poor poorer, doesn't make it an islamic institution. It's exploitation and profiting off of naiveness and good intent of our brothers who are trying to avoid interest. This goes against all Islamic principles when it comes to giving loans. What's sadder is that I can sense non-muslims realising this and thinking ithey can make more money out of muslims wanting to buy homes. You think you're fighting the western system while adopting it. Also it's not the fact that we need pay more to avoid riba, if that was the case then this would be perfect. I'm pointing out that this system is profiting off of people who are in need and DON'T have the money to buy homes. This profit is completely against what Allah encourages. Do you not ask yourself what the metrics or purpose is of this "rent" for the part ypu don't own? Think of it rationally and not just "oh kuffar system, let's make our own". We don't need to make our own, we already had the best system laid in the Quran. PS: I am against any form of riba (as we should be). I'm just pointing out that this is a really bad way to go about it. We need to be more patient, give charity on our savings and stop getting desperate to buy things we can't afford.
@owaisbukhari52632 ай бұрын
@@3affaf I have nothing against the sheikh whatsoever, he just hasn't thought it through properly when it comes to this topic. We are mimicking the western banking system, that's what I'm pointing out. Islam has never been about profiting off of poor people who are unable to pay for things that could be necessary (as the sheikh pointed out). If it was about paying a little more to avoid riba, then just rent a home rather than getting into these types of contracts which will leave you in utter distress. The whole system is about profiting off of the poor, and the worst part is that it's poor muslims who are trying to avoid riba. This is a money-making opportunity, the same way banks are, we need to sop being so naive. The Quran gives us the way - give charity on savings, don't buy things you can't reasonably afford, and lenders of ANYTHING should see their loan as an act of charity rather than a money-making opportunity.

The prophet already warned us against these people. Just recognize them and move on. Don’t listen to a word they say. They are a fitna that comes in the end times. Allah is sifting people and this process is being done by these people who call themselves imams to separate the followers of dajjal and the followers of the prophet. Good job brother, you were able to see through this deception.

1. So Bank takes advantage (not an individual), bank will go to hell? (Perpetrator) 2. How is it that debt based and interest based system is more successful in the world with less poverty. 3. Is it ok for countries to get loan from IMf? If they don't take it, they don't remove poverty and people die of hunger. Is letting them die by not taking loan preferred over taking loan from ImF on interest? 4. A person with 50k dollars annual income not being able to buy a house of 500k and dies in the process. Now his wife and kids are thrown on street because they don't have any home. How do you reconsile that, 5. Money makes money. A poor person born in a poor family has no option for business? He should not take loan and try to do business and should instead work on a low salary and live hand to mouth all his life or most of his life? 6. Muslim countries (other than the ones who sell oil) are all poor and most western or interest based economies are doing well. Is there a problem with our understanding of this whole problem? When I take loan from a bank and bank makes money and I start a business and make money. Who too k advantage of who? Isn't everybody making money and improving their lives? 7. A basic point in Riba is taking advantage. And that applies to a personal loan for a personal reason, like getting one's sister married or helping someone get treated for a disease etc. it should not apply to someone taking a loan for a business.
@TheInvisible68122 ай бұрын
6.) Bank make profit, you who took loan make profit but all others you own fiat money lose their purchase power, aka inflation! Biggest scam system based on ignorance of people in the monetary system.
